Next up is the sides

How are you going to fix the seal issue?

From the photo it looks like there's a pretty good flange around the front and sides of the opening. I imagine the OP has already got a plan or he wouldn't be starting yet, but if it were me I would try running a bead of silicone around it to seal when the lid overlaps the flange. I'm not sure about the hinge, but then again I don't know how much humidity would really escape through there either, it could be tight enough.

To the OP: This is a cool idea! Are you planning to put in any dividers or separations of any kind?

im still lining the rest of the box with spanish cedar. The cedar around the joints will be beveled to fit snugly together

You need a fairly airtight seal in order to hold humidity. Is this box going to provide that?

Great idea, how many sticks do you estimate it will hold? What are you going to use to hold the cedar to the sides?

Do you think the metal will have a huge affect on the temp - too cold or too hot?

The sides were dado-ed to interlock with the top.

Better view of the dado and bevel.

The top is dado-ed in reverse of the bottom and the fit is very snug.

That spanish cedar saw dust kicked my butt!!! I had to pull out the dust mask and gloves for this stuff.

Looks good, that would be a good way to hide sticks away from the wife.

Yeah, it is actually toxic. I did not realize this until I had built several humidors. You should definitely wear a dust mask.

Great job on the corners and the overlapping top and bottom. Nicely done! I hope my seals are as nice when I finish mine.

Oh GREAT, now another order I'll have to make with you!! :p

hahahahahah sorry souldog. One thing at a time. Your ash tray should be there tomorrow unless the USPS lady is a dirty liar.
I'm glad you like it.

My seals SEEM tight. After I get some humidification in this guy we will really see. If its not up to par, I'll put in a foam weather seal and call it done.

I'm waiting for the JOBOX project!

That's a cool idea to keep the cigar fascination alive and kickin'. Never thought of a tool box.

I love this, you guys have mad skills and some cool idea's that's for sure

That looks great! After seeing your skills, I can't wait to see what you do with the ashtray I have on order...

ETA - Are you going to be building any trays for the tool box?
