What an absolutely beautiful afternoon with the sun peeking in and out of the clouds and a nice wind blowing outside. And yes, on Christmas Eve the temperature gauge is reading right at 71 degrees. I went through and picked out a number of smokes that I’m planning to fire up over the next few days. I wanted to dry box the smokes to make sure they weren’t too over humidified. With the day as nice as it is, I went ahead and picked up a Don Carlos d’anniversario 2006 and headed to the back porch.

The cigar had a beautiful presentation with gorgeous double bands, cedar sleeve, and black ribbon wrapping the foot. I slid the cedar and ribbon off to reveal a well constructed chocolate brown wrapper that had a nice, oily sheen to it. It was a very solid cigar, quite heavy in the hand and no give when squeezed. An excellent aroma came from the foot of a dark, rich tobacco.

I punched the cap and found an absolutely perfect draw with tastes of raisins and good, rich tobacco. I used the cedar sleeve to light the foot and the smoke that started coming through was unbelievably rich with dark earth, leather, and sweet gingerbread. There was a perfect cinnamon spice, the smoke exceptionally smooth and creamy with one of the most incredibly last finishes I’ve experienced on a non Cuban cigar.

The burn was sharp with a strong gray ash that I accidentally knocked off while placing the cigar on the ashtray. A third in and the smoke was a perfect medium strength, and I was taking long, slow draws, exhaling the silky smooth smoke from the mouth and nose revealing some of the most delicious flavors I’ve ever experienced. Earth, wood, leather, gingerbread, cinnamon spice, rich cocoa and coffee, buttered toast; what an amazing cigar!

If I’m not mistaken, I believe this is one of the cigars that Geoff (Stinki) also gifted to me quite some time ago. I don’t think I can thank this man enough for giving me the opportunity to experience this smoke. It is, without a doubt, one of if not the best non-Cuban cigar I’ve ever smoked. Simply incredible.

Nice review, I've always wanted to try one of these, but yep.

one and half month later , finally picked one up and I'll give it a try.

Nice review, Greg. That is a very pretty cigar. I would have to agree that these are wonderful.

I like your flavor description. These are absolutely fantastic in my book!

I've never tried one. From all the great reviews and feedback, I gotta pick one up now.

Great review . . . and what a beautiful, beautiful cigar.

These are top, front, and center on my list, but I haven't been able to bring myself to pull the trigger yet. Reviews like this, though, bring me that much closer to the tipping point. Gingerbread? Oh, yeah. Must smoke.

These guys are pricey, but they are my absolute favorite cigar ever. If I had a last cigar to smoke, it'd be a DC Anniversario. Good job Greggy!

Excellent review. Thanks you for the pics as well.

Thanks for the review.
Looks like a really good smoke .

Yet another nice review. I revisited this smoke last Tuesday and it still ranks as one of my favorites.
