I really like the bands on this cigar, menacing looking is my first thought. This is a good-sized cigar with a medium to dark, smooth brown wrapper that has only slight noticeable oil. It has only a slight give when squeezed and a very good weight in the hand. With the cap punched, I find the draw to be more loose than I like, with a good tobacco flavor in the cold draw. The cigar is ready for the torch, however first I’ve got to get the band around the foot to come off. I tried rolling the band around to loosen the glue and hopefully just slide it off, however this was a definite no go. I ended up pulling the band apart and holy cow did they want that thing to stay on there. Finally, with fire to the foot, the journey begins.

My first draw was good with nice black pepper spice on the back of the throat and a rich flavor coming through in the medium bodied smoke. Tastes of black coffee with roasted nuts and woodiness in the mix. There seemed to be a really good orange zest coming through as well. Not bad at all.

The draw was loose, however fit well with the strength of the smoke. The burn was good with a very dark, gray ash forming that was rather loose and fell on its own at about three quarters of an inch in. I was rather enjoying the flavors of coffee, vanilla, and roasted nuts. The finish was quite tasty and lasting on the palate.

Around a third into the cigar I started to get this really weird flavor. As I’m puffing away, I started getting a really strange taste of…mustard? No lie, I tasted mustard in the smoke. I know my palate gets a little weird sometimes, but mustard? Oh no way, was the smoke actually turning a yellow tint as well? Okay, so maybe my mind was playing tricks on me or something. Yep, just plain weird.

So the mustard thing subsided after a bit and the smoke resumed its same flavors as before with good coffee taste, roasted nuts, and vanilla. Really good actually. There was a fairly good finish when exhaling through the mouth with an aftertaste of oranges. The burn continued to be sharp and the ash a dark gray, but didn’t want to hold on very well.

Towards the last third, I started getting a more bitter, close to acrid taste and the burn went South on me. It started to get fairly hot and didn’t want to stay lit, all the signs of tunnels. I finally sat it down with about an inch and a half left. This wasn’t a knock my socks off smoke, however it was good up until the last third or so. Lots of good flavors with a lasting finish. Solid burn and plenty of smoke that flowed well in the effortless draw. Not sure about the mustard though.

Wow you sure got a different taste than I did from the torpedo size, I just reviewed that one, and loved it!
