Israel (Uptown_Isy) sent this Don Pepin cigar as a tag-a-long with a box purchase I made a little while back. I’ve been letting it sit and figured this evening would be a good time to give it a try. The Colorado Corojo wrapper has one prominent vein running the length with only a slight bit of oiliness and has a slight give when squeezed. There’s a good weight in the hand and bunching in the foot looks good. I punch the cap and find a perfect draw, and I swear taste is as if the cigar was infused with a really good whiskey.

Fire to the foot, I get a good amount of white pepper spice from the first draw. The smoke is a good medium in body, and the taste is a really good straightforward tobacco. There’s a sharp burn going with a medium gray ash forming that holds strong until knocked off at about an inch in.

White pepper spice continues to come through in a perfect amount and flavor remains just a really good straightforward tobacco. There are faint hints of toasted nut and vanilla in the medium bodied smoke with a very nice, lasting finish on the palate. The draw and burn are both spot on, having no issues at all in that arena.

The last third of this smoke was absolutely the best part of this cigar with a rich vanilla twang and a fantastic finish that lasts. I very much enjoyed this cigar as sometimes it’s nice to have a smoke that is just really good tobacco and the last turning into a real treat. Thanks so much Israel for sending!
