It is definitely hot out today with temps in the shade hitting in the upper eighties with only a slight breeze blowing every now and then. But still, it’s an absolutely beautiful day to enjoy a fine cigar. I picked out an LG Small Batch No. 2, having smoked a No. 1 a couple of weeks ago, I was looking forward to seeing how this one smoked. The wrapper is a medium to dark brown and doesn’t have the marble look the No. 1 had. There’s really not much by way of oils that I can see and minimal veins. It feels firm when squeezed, a little light in the hand, and with the cap punched I find the draw to not have as much resistance as I like, but still enough to not be extremely loose.

I put fire to the foot and take a couple puffs, and then a long draw. I was fully expecting to get a fairly strong spice at the beginning, however it was actually a spot on white pepper spice that hit the back of the tongue and throat just right. The smoke itself was actually more of a mild than medium to my palate with excellent flavor, that of rich tasted nut, sweet dark brown sugar, and a really nice woodiness.

The burn was sharp with a strong, medium gray ash forming that held until knocked off about every inch or so. I find the draw to actually be just right allowing the perfect amount of still mild, not quite medium smoke to flow through. Flavors are consistent as before with a very nice finish that is lasting on the palate.

Around the halfway mark, the smoke finally picked up to a medium body and it seemed the spice kicks up another notch, but nothing overwhelming at all. Flavors are still that of roasted nuts and a sweet brown sugar with good woodiness, however it seems vanilla is coming through in the mix as well. Hitting the final third I’m getting a more straightforward tobacco taste and the finish continues to be long and lasting, delicious on the palate.

This was an excellent smoke for me even though it was rather mild for my palate during most of the first half. With an excellent burn, perfect draw, rich flavors and a lasting finish, this cigar made for a very nice, relaxing afternoon. It’s difficult to say which I liked better due to the draw issues I had with the No. 1, however if I had to say, I would go with this Small Batch No. 2, just a fantastic smoke.

Another great review of one of my very most favorites.

Well done brother Greg.

Great review, I really enjoy the slide show. I bought a couple of these and smoked the first one before it had time to settle, I was not too impressed. I am hoping to enjoy the second one as much as you did.

GREAT Review Greg,

the SB#2 are some of my favorite summer smokes. They are a smoke that I can just relax with and enjoy, but definitely not for the faint of heart..ahahahaha..

"The Small Batch is your friend"

I definitely prefer the #2 to the #1.

Great review (as always) and great pics... I am dying to get my hand's on one of these.. I dropped the ball on an chance for a box..

Great review, Greg. I'm a fan of the LG Small Batch smokes. Hey, what's with the "Kingantz pic" in each of the pictures? Someone reusing your pics?

Thanks for the review. This is one of my favorite smokes, and was eagerly awaiting this after the SB #1 review.

Not that I know of. I recently downloaded a re-sizing program that has quite a few neat little gadgets and adding the text was one of 'em. I thought it was cool. :D

Dude, the random reptile photograph, while interesting and appreciated; needs to be separated from the cigar photos. The thumbnail looks like worms and when associated with cigars the mind goes to a strange place that centers around smoked worms.... My heart went into my stomach.

Another great review of a great cigar. You should post a video on lighting cigars, your lights are always perfect.

NIce review. I enjoyed one of these for the first time recently and found it to be an excellent summer cigar, as others have noted.
