Hot and muggy. That’s what it is outside with temps reaching a little over 90F and not much of a breeze. We’ve had storms about every evening this week, so the humidity is up there only taking a few minutes of being out to start sweating. But, it is still a gorgeous day with spots of clouds and plenty of sun, so I went to the desktop and got hold of an H. Upmann Sir Winston from 2003 I picked up in a pass not long ago (I believe was a put from Robbie).

I’ve smoked a few, well maybe more than a few, of these from 2002 and a couple from 2001 and these are hands down one of the best Cuban cigars out there IMO. Let’s see how a 2003 does. The wrapper is a medium, silky brown that is somewhat coarse with minimal veins and noticeable oils. It has a good weight in the hand, a slight give when squeezed, and with the perfectly constructed triple cap punched I find a draw with excellent resistance.

With fire to the foot, I take a couple of puffs to get the smoke flowing good, then a nice, long draw. There’s a salty sweetness on the lips that is delicious. A very nice spice hits the back of the throat in just the right amount with exquisitely rich flavor of toasted nuts and sweet honey coming through in the silky, medium bodied smoke. Other flavors delight the palate, that of wood, earth, cinnamon, cocoa, amongst others making it quite complex and absolutely fantastic!

The burn is sharp through the first inch, however starts to get a little off after that, and then corrects itself just fine. Creamy medium to full bodied smoke is flowing well through the spot on draw with deliciously rich, complex flavors that have incredibly depth. I can’t even begin to describe how fantastic the finish is, lasting on the palate long after exhaling.

Towards the last third, the creamy smoke became quite full bodied and flavors were just all over, sweet nuts and honey with so many other tastes, but then a straightforward delicious, rich tobacco. What an absolutely fantastic smoke with a good burn, utterly rich and complex flavors, and a finish that is like no other. If you don’t have any of these in your humi, get some!

It's a great cigar, my favorite. But man, you gotta lay off the psychedelics.

Doc.

I love reading your reviews Kingantz! After reading about how it tastes like nuts and honey, I realized I haven't eaten breakfast yet
Keep up the great work!

Dave

I have one of these that I got from somewhere. :whistling: I've been meaning to fire it up but the heat and humidity has been really bad here too and I'd like to give it my full attention with little distractions.

LOL @ lay off the psychedelics!

One of the best cigars I've had the pleasure of smoking. Great review as always Greg.
