Par 3 Cigars was kind enough to hook me up with a few smokes in a recent deal we had, two of which were Cubinican cigars mady by Hatuey. I decided to put fire to the torpedo this evening, which is very well constructed with a smooth, medium brown wrapper with very little by way of veins and noticeable oil. It’s firm when squeezed, has a good weight in the hand, and with the sharply tapered cap clipped, I find a good draw with taste of fresh, straightforward tobacco.
The cigar lit quite easily and had a good burn going quickly with smoke flowing effortlessly. First draw was very good with a perfect amount of white pepper spice on the back of the tongue and throat with the smoke itself a good medium body. The initial flavor was that of a slightly sweet raisin with a touch of baked bread, quite good actually.
The burn is sharp with a strong, medium to light gray ash forming with smoke flowing well in the perfect draw. Spice is still coming through, however somewhat mellowed out reaching a third in. Along with the flavors previously described, I seem to detect a bit of cinnamon with what seems to be a citrus quality in the still medium-bodied smoke. The finish is quite good upon immediate exhale, however very short on the palate.
Hitting half way, I start having a hard time getting smoke through and once ashed, I see a nice sized tunnel. It seems the draw has tightened up a bit as well, and I have to roll the cigar between my fingers a little to try and loosen it up a little. After a bit, the cigar starts to smoke/burn well again and good, medium-bodied smoke flows through fine. I exhale through the mouth and nose, and get a nice tingling spiciness in the nostrils. Flavors have remained consistent with the finish continuing to be quite short on the palate.
This was actually a very good smoke with nice spice, sharp burn, good draw, and good flavors. The only thing was the finish wasn’t very lasting, but still good upon initial exhale. Thank you PJ for the opportunity to sample a Cubinican!

I'd say I wouldn't mind tracking some of these down, but after being here for a few months now my "must try" list is too damn big.
