It’s a really nice morning, that is up until the crop duster showed up and started spraying insecticide, what a lovely aroma that is first thing in the morning. The past few years he has shown up later in the morning and the baby girl has gotten to watch “the plane mommy/daddy”, however she slept through it flying right over the house. I got her some video though.
After the bug spray smell has dissipated, I get comfy on the back porch and inspect the Troya Universales. I’m not sure of the age on it, however it was discontinued in 2005, so it’s at least several years old. This is the first time I’ve seen a CC in a plastic tube, I like it! The wrapper is a coloarado shade with not much by way of oil and large, prominent veins throughout. It has a decent weight for its size, very firm when squeezed, and has a perfect draw (the cap was pre-cut).
After putting fire to the foot, I get a good medium strength smoke with a mild spiciness on the back of the throat, the body rather mild as well feeling light over the palate. This little cigar is producing a huge amount of delicious smoke. It has a sweetness to it with vanilla, toasted nuts, black licorice and a hint of caramel. Wow, this thing is really good!
The burn is sharp with a flaky medium to light gray ash forming that holds strong until tapped off. There’s a perfect draw, continuing to produce volumes of delicious medium strength smoke, and flavors consistent with a lasting finish. Exhaling through the mouth and nose, the mild spice tingles the nostrils, thoroughly enjoyable smoke.
This was an absolute treat with sharp burn, perfect spice, delicious flavors, and rich, lasting finish on the palate. If these were still available, I would probably try to pick up a box or two as this smoke hit my palate just right. Excellent little cigar!
*Note: I was informed that this cigar is still in production, just not by Habana SA.
