And so, the Thanksgiving meal is done, and I am absolutely stuffed. We all adjourned to the living room afterwards and stretched out, all of our eyes becoming quite heavy in a very short time. I decide to get up and come out to enjoy a cigar, especially now that the sun has come out for the first time in almost a week. It lifts the spirits to feel the warmth of the sun’s rays on my face, makes me smile, very happy.

I’m going to put fire to another Tat Drac, they’ve had almost a month to sit in the humi, so I’m curious to see how one is smoking now. As the previous Drac I smoked, this one has a very dark maduro looking wrapper with no oils, looking like fine sandpaper, and one prominent vein running the length. It feels a little light in the hand, is firm when squeezed, and with the tapered head clipped, I find a perfect draw with a sweet tobacco flavor laced with cocoa.

Fire to the foot, I take a few puffs to get the burn even and after a nice ash is starting to form, I take a long, slow draw to find a rather mild spice on the throat with the strength rather mild as well. Flavors coming through are rich with tastes of vanilla, sweet cocoa, toasted nuts, and hints of cinnamon, delicious and creamy on the palate. The finish is excellent upon exhale and semi-lasting.

The burn goes to one side in the first third, requiring touching-up, with the ash a very light gray and holding strong until tapped off. I’m finding the smoke continuing to be quite mild in strength with a smidgen of spice coming through, however the body is full and creamy, very rich flavors hitting the palate with a perfect balance, lasting more and more the further in I get. I’m wondering if there’s just a little too much resistance in the draw that’s creating the mildness in the smoke, so after tapping off the ash a second time, I clip a small amount more off and still, the smoke is rather mild to my palate. Mildest Tat I’ve ever smoked.

At the halfway mark and through the final third, the cigar performed flawlessly with sharp burn, perfect draw, rich flavors and lasting finish. This was nothing at all like the first Drac I smoked at the end of October, but an incredibly delicious smoke that had a smooth and creamy body. I do wish the strength had a bit more kick to it, however a thoroughly enjoyable cigar for a nice Thanksgiving afternoon!

Nice review Greg...thanks.

You and I must have been thinking the same thing, I am about to fire up one as well. Figured I would give number two a try after having it rest for a month. Hope mine is as successful as yours, my first was a disaster because of the burn.

Great review, but looking at that thing I wouldn't have guessed it to be mild. Would you say more along the Cabaiguan profile then? You mentioned rich and creamy and along with the mildness this brings to mind his Cabaiguan line.

It wasn't along the lines of Cabaiguan as I find them to have a more prominent vanilla taste. The Drac has some of the vanilla, however more of a dark roasted nut and cocoa taste (maduro). I'm still not 100% sure that it wasn't the draw having just a tad too much resistance. I've smoked a couple of Cabiguan maduros and believe it or not, they didn't do much for me, whereas this was hitting my palate really well, other than the mildness. I'm curious to see if others find theirs to be mild.

I know the first one I smoked wasn't mild at all.

Nice review. I have been patiently waiting to enjoy my Dracs. Now might be the time.

Smoke a couple, and you will still be waiting to enjoy them. Very underwhelming.

I could not agree more, I had my first drac last night with my cousin and we kept saying throughout the whole smoke that it was missing something, very mild for a tat and left nothing on the palate upon exhaling. it was very flat to both of us.
