This was a day that was much needed, 75F with clear blue sky and a nice breeze, just strong enough to keep the bugs at bay. The wife left before noon to go shopping for the baby girl’s b-day, which is coming up this Wednesday, and left me and Jess to spend some quality time together. And boy, did we spend some quality time! We headed to the front where I pushed her on the swing, played in the sandbox, and then a bit of tag, running all over the front yard. Then I decided to stretch out in one of the lawn chairs, and Jess crawled up on my lap and had a lot of Daddy lovin! The wife came home after a couple few hours, and then we all headed out, and I decided to take a Ten Fidy along with an Opus Scorpion from 2005.

The cigar had excellent construction with very few veins and oils glistening in the light brown wrapper. It was firm when squeezed with no soft spots to be found, and after punching the triple, no, quadruple cap, I found a perfect draw with a sweet, delicious taste of strong tobacco coming through.

I torched the foot, which was quite a job in the rather strong breeze, however after getting a good burn going I take a few puffs and then a long draw. I had anticipated getting a good bit of spice from the first draw, however instead it was a rather mild to almost medium that hit the palate absolutely perfect. I let the incredibly delicious medium strength smoke flow slowly through my mouth and nose, savoring the sweet, buttery taste left on the palate. Cedar wood, leather, toasted nuts, hint of vanilla; seemingly complex, amazing flavors coming through.

The burn wasn’t sharp, however even enough with a light gray, compact ash forming that held strong until tapped off. Mild to medium strength spice continued to hit the back of the tongue and throat with the smoke itself a good medium to almost full. What an outstanding cigar this is! Flavors continued to be as previously described with a smooth, buttery texture in the body, smoke flowing well through the perfect draw with a semi-lasting finish on the palate.

I finished up the Ten Fidy, put my feet up on the table, and really relaxed while finishing up this amazing cigar. The breeze felt wonderful as I continued on, the cigar burning ever so slowly, which I’m actually thankful for. With even burn, perfect draw, and rich, delicious flavors coming through, this is probably one of the best Opus I’ve smoked to date, thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

I've got a dog like that.

Sleeps on the couch all day, asks to be let out, walks out into the middle of the yard, falls over, and goes back to sleep!

Great review as always. I had one of these from a sampler or bomb once and it was one fine stogie.
