It’s a beautiful, warm day with lot of sun; however the wind is blowing pretty well. I spent most of the afternoon cleaning the pool, my arms and back are completely give out from scrubbing algae stains, but the pool is now clean. I went digging in the humis to see what I could smoke on such a fine day and decided I would give a go with one of the Bolivar Conde 109 that’s been sitting for a number of months now. This is close to being the largest Bolivar I’ve seen besides the Double Corona RE. It has a light, golden brown wrapper with noticeable oil, a couple of patchwork veins running the length, and a very well constructed cone looking cap. There’s a good weight in the hand, maybe a little on the light side and firm when squeezed with a slight crunchiness. After clipping a small amount of the coned cap, I find a perfect draw with taste of sweet, straightforward tobacco.

Using my Dupont torch, I slowly bring the cigar to life putting fire to the foot, blowing on the forming embers to get an even burn. Taking a couple quick puffs, the initial taste is absolutely delicious with an incredible aroma in the nose. My first long draw brings a perfect amount of spice to the tongue and throat, the smoke itself medium in strength with a smooth, creamy body tantalizing the taste buds. Flavors are incredibly rich and complex with notes of sweet molasses, raw honey, chocolate, hints of leather and citrus twang. There’s a finish left on the palate after slowly exhaling that is simply amazing.

The burn is sharp with a medium, compact ash forming in perfect layers, the ash falls easily after about an inch or so in landing in my lap. I am in pure Bolivar heaven as I head into the halfway mark with excellent spiciness and a medium strength smoke that is hitting my palate perfectly. Flavors continue to be as previously described, seemingly complex and deeply rich with a finish that lasts long after exhaling.

Hooooly shit this is one damn good cigar! I just had to say that. The spice and strength seem to kick up a notch as I’m heading into the final third, which I’ve arrived at much too soon. This is one of those cigars that I hate to see the end of. The burn continues to be razor sharp, although the ash once again falls easily on its on, the second time landing on the concrete floor of the back porch (the wife will say one of my “terds” fell again  ). The filler, binder, and wrapper are burning in unison, leaving a flat coal with both dark and light gray ash within. Flavors are deeply rich and complex, leaving the palate yearning for more after every slow exhale.

This was IMHO one of the best Bolivar I’ve ever smoked. Fantastic.

It's always a great smoke when you damn near smoke your fingers too

Great review Greg. Was it really better than the Especiales #2? I may have to get my hands on these.

Agreed here too Greg!! Absolutey stellar out the box can't even fathom how good these will be with some nap time :whistling: IMO a must try if bolis are in ya likings

Okay that settles it. A couple of these babies are going to Nashville with me this April. Thanks for the great review Greg.

Great review. Thanks for sharing. Been wanting to get my hands on some of these babies.

I am dying to try these and some of the Especiales No.2. I see you can get a sampler with two of each in it. That's pretty tempting.
