While the wife and baby girl played in the pool, I decided to stretch out in the lounge chair and bask in the sun for a while. Of course, while doing so I thought it a good idea to light up a good cigar, so picked out a LG Diez Americano received from my friend Alan (Lilbastage) back in Nov 2008 (sticker says purchased 3/2008). The cigar had excellent construction with a smooth, light brown wrapper with noticeable oil and one prominent vein running the length. It was firm with a nice crunchiness to it when squeezed and no soft spots to be found. I punched the cap and found the draw perfect with a sweet taste of what I would describe as ginger bread.

With the foot torched and burning evenly, I take a couple puffs to get the smoke flowing, and flow it did. Huge plumes of white smoke was produced immediately, and with my first draw I found out it was definitely a full strength smoke. There was a perfect amount of white pepper spice on the tongue and throat with a sweet, vanilla like flavor coming through as well as cedar wood and a hint of cocoa.

Through the first third and into halfway, the burn was sharp with a light gray ash forming that held strong until tapped off. The smoke continued to flow well through the perfect draw, very full strength and feeling smooth, almost buttery on the palate. The finish was lasting, rich and delicious.

The final third was consistent with the first half having a sharp burn, perfect draw, and full in strength and body. The smooth, buttery smoke was excellent with the spice hitting just right, flavors continuing to be rich and delicious with a lasting finish on the palate. I very much enjoyed this cigar, especially the stength it brought. Excellent cigar!

Greg, great review as always. I have a couple of these guys buried in my humidor somewhere. Honestly, I've been a little intimidated by their reputation. I may have to get over it and put some fire to one of them soon!

I'm not sure why these never took off. I went through two cabs of 50 of the original blend LG's back in '05 and '06. Litto changed the blend in '08 to be a new blend of tobacco each year I think. They're still very good cigars, and I love that he's doing oscuro and maduro wrapper variants of them.

These are in my Top 5 best cigars. I can't say anything for the new blends, tho, as I have yet to try 'em.

I drink the Litto Kool-aid...

Haven’t had one of these for quite some time, but I always thought they were very reminiscent of the Opus No. 5. Very good cigars.

Great review! I have one of these sitting in my desktop humi awaiting fire.

For a $10 smoke, this is a great value!

I have yet to try anything Litto Gomez. I've heard some nice reviews but have never put forth the effort to get my hands on some. Maybe once I get my second humidor up and running I'll see what kind of free space I have.
