Slept in late this morning, was almost 9 a.m. before I crawled out the bed. It’s mostly sunny as I step out the back door with my morning coffee and cigar, right at eighty degrees with the humidity the same number. There’s a nice breeze blowing that feels nice and cool thank goodness. The cigar is a Tatuaje East Coast that I recently purchased in a sampler, my first and only in this line. It has a medium brown wrapper with noticeable oil and one vein running the length. I squeeze the cigar and find no soft spots and after punching the cap find the draw a little looser than I like with taste of rich, sweet tobacco.

Torching the foot, the smell of the second hand smoke is wonderful in the nose. Once I’m satisfied with the burn, I take a few puffs and then a long draw which brings a good bit of black pepper spice, the smoke medium to almost full in strength. After a couple more draws and a quarter inch of ash having formed, the spice mellows a bit and I’m able to really taste the fantastic richness of the smoke. Oh man is this one good cigar! There’s smoothness over the palate, almost silky with tastes of vanilla, cinnamon, toasted nuts, cedar wood, and rich earth…just a deliciously complex plethora of flavors right from the start.

Quarter to halfway in, the burn is sharp with a somewhat flaky light to medium gray ash forming. A ton of medium to full strength smoke is pouring from fire and although the draw is slightly loose, it is still working quite well. I don’t think I can properly describe the incredible flavors coming through and the rich, delicious, lasting taste left on the palate after exhaling slowly. The spice is spot on and makes my nostrils tingle.

There are a couple spots where the wrapper formed small cracks; however the burn continued to be sharp even after reaching them. The ash became even more flaky and loose, falling on its own at one point. Into the final third, the strength and spice intensified to full, just right for my palate. My palate was in pure bliss and hated to see the end of this fine cigar, but end it did. Absolutely incredible smoke and probably close to being one of the best Tatuaje I’ve smoked.

Grr... this is why I hate Tat reviews. Of the two I've smoked, neither are available any more. Does Tat make anything that isn't a limited edition or just plain HTF? I'll just keep adding them to my wish list. :p
