It is absolutely one very hot month of June with temperatures in the upper nineties almost daily. We have gotten a few storms in the evenings with one coming through just yesterday; however they don’t last very long leaving the air humid and sticky. Today is no exception as it’s in the mid to upper nineties in the shade, actually makes me sleepy sitting out in this muggy heat. Luckily I have the shade of the walnut tree and although there’s hardly a breeze, it still feels decent. I’m putting fire to the second of three LFD sticks Rob (IndyRob) was kind enough to send, the one from 2 Guys back in 2007. This one is nowhere near as dark as the Outlaw 07 with the wrapper a medium brown and not much by way of oils. It has one prominent vein running the length, is firm when squeezed, and after punching the cap I find the draw slightly on the tight side, however have a feeling it’ll work perfectly with this cigar. The taste coming through in the cold draw is of straightforward tobacco with a bit of mustiness.

After toasting the foot and a nice, even burn is going; I take a few quick puffs and then let the cigar rest for a bit, then take a few more quick puffs and let the cigar rest again. After about a quarter inch of ash having formed, I take a long, deep draw and find the strength of the smoke to be rather mild with very little spice detectable. Although the strength is on the mild side, the flavors are full with a delicious richness left on the palate after exhaling. I’m finding it difficult to describe the flavors, the best I can say would be coffee and leather with hints of toasted nuts, everything working together to make it a well balanced smoke.

A third in and the burn is sharp with a light gray ash forming that is compact, holding strong until tapped off. I’m finding the strength a slight bit stronger; however still mild to my palate with the spice mild as well. The smoke is flowing well through the perfect draw with flavors continuing to be very rich, smooth over the palate with the finish lasting long after exhaling.

Halfway and into the final third, both the strength and spice picked up even more to right at medium. The smoke, smooth and creamy, flowed well through the perfect draw with a sharp burn and light, compact ash forming that fell on its own at one point. I can’t say enough about the richness in the flavors coming through in the lasting finish; coffee, leather, toasted nuts, sweet cinnamon all working together incredibly well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar from beginning to end, although the strength could have been a bit on the stronger side for me. With sharp burn, perfect draw, and rich delicious flavors that lasted on the palate, this was a fantastic smoke. Again, thank you Rob for giving me the opportunity to sample!
