Holy crap it’s hot! Upper nineties daily. We’ve been lucky to have had a couple evenings with storms/rain, however nothing in the past few days. I got off work a little early today and there was some serious rumbling going on, however it didn’t last long. There was a good wind blowing, however just moving the heat around is all. I decided to choose a smaller smoke as I didn’t think I would be able to stay out long, so grabbed the Dunhill Signed Range received from CJ (Wkoti) a little while back. The wrapper is a medium to dark brown with noticeable oil a couple of small veins. It is very firm with a good weight for its size, and after punching the cap I find the draw has slightly more resistance than I like, however plenty of air is flowing through.

The cigar lights easily and after a few puffs I take a long draw getting a nice spice on the back of the tongue and throat with the smoke medium in strength. Flavors are very rich from the start with tastes of baked sweet bread, toasted nuts, cocoa and leather. There’s a incredibly delicious finish left on the palate that has me taking a moment to enjoy thoroughly.

I’m already a third in before I know it and the burn is sharp with a medium gray ash forming. The draw is still a bit tight, however taking a slow, long draw I’m getting a good amount of smoke out that has good spice and medium strength. The flavors coming from this little smoke are absolutely amazing, rich and very complex. If I had gotten this as a blind cigar, I would swear it was an aged Cuban as it just had that incredible twang in the finish that was very lasting.

I smoked this cigar as far down as I could still get smoke out and was wishing there was more to go. An absolutely amazingly rich smoke with sharp burn, good draw, and fantastic flavor left in the lasting finish that hit my palate perfectly. This was my first Dunhill, and is definitely not going to be my last! Thanks CJ for letting me sample such a fine little smoke!

Good review, good review, good review! :D

I've often wondered about these. Convinced me to try them, as I love petite corona's. Also seems like they are all I have time for these days.

I've often wondered about these as well. Thanks for the review!

Greg, great review as always! I have a Dunhill Signed Range Torpedo from late '07 buried someplace deep in my humidor. It will now meet its demise soon-- I'll let you know how it was.

I'll admit, I've been a little leery of these. I've heard they were rolled by the Toranos, and while they do make some really decent cigars, not all of their offerings suit my tastes these days.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Dunhills rolled previously by somebody else and then the Torano's took over within the last 2-3 years? That may make a difference in taste.

Greg, what punch do you use? I have my Xikar Xi3, but I like the way you punch yours.

Edit: Never mind, found this! http://www.cigarpass.com/forumsipb/index.php?showtopic=64685&hl=xikar%20punch&st=0

That be the one! I've sharpened mine so much there's not much ring left. :D

Great review!

Are these similar in profile to the Mojito?

Bastage!

Thanks for the info Greg. I want to experiment with punching, it seems so much cleaner than a cut. I ordered a punch and we'll see if I use it enough to need the sharpener :D
