Stepping on the back porch, it’s already very warm and muggy with the sky a bit overcast, looking to be another hot one today. Looking through the humis I spied a Padron Londres Maduro gifted by my good friend Chris (Lovetheleaf) back in November 2008. The maduro wrapper is dark brown and coarse with noticeable tooth and minimal veins. It’s very firm when squeezed, has a good weight in the hand, and after punching the cap I find the draw perfect with sweet taste of rich cocoa. Oh yeah, I can already tell this should be one fine cigar.

The foot lights easily and after several quick puffs, tons of smoke pours effortlessly through. My first draw brings a mild to medium spice with the smoke a good medium strength and hitting my palate just right. Flavors are incredibly rich with taste of cocoa, earth, and leather with a lasting, smooth finish that leaves a taste I would describe as fresh baked ginger bread.

Through the first half, the burn is razor sharp with a medium to dark gray ash forming that has noticeable tooth and falls off on its own around the first inch. Spice is perfect on the tongue and throat with the smoke continuing to be a good medium strength. Someone asked in a recent thread if a regular x000 was aged enough, would it taste as good as a PAN. Well I’m here to tell you, this cigar was just as good as any PAM I’ve ever had. The flavors are amazingly rich, so much so I can’t seem to get enough and am smoking through this thing faster than usual. I have to exhale slowly through the mouth and nose, completely immersed in the creamy richness left on the palate in the lasting finish.

What an amazing smoke is over much too soon. With razor sharp burn, perfect draw, and incredibly rich, delicious flavor, this is definitely one of the best Padrons I’ve had. There are good cigars, and then there are GOOD cigars, and this one most certainly falls into the latter. Many thanks Chris for turning me on to what will soon be a regular for me.

Great review....The londres and the ambassador are my favorites in the regular Padron line. There is NO better smoke out there for the money.

The londres is my preferred vitola of the regular padron line also.
Nice review as always.

Awesome review Greg, glad you are getting more into the Padron line, they got some amazing cigars.

Didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with knifes young man?

Anyways, wonderful review and pictures like always!

It was actually scissors (on my Victorinox punch knife). :D

I honestly can not think of a better cigar at this price point.

Correction - Didn't your mother ever tell you not to smoke with scissors? :whistling:

Curious whether it was the age of the smoke or the vitola that impressed... Or was it both maybe?

It always amazes me how good these taste and how ugly they are.

Great review my friend, thank you!

I just picked up a box from Famous after reading this review (and after smoking a couple of Padrons from bruddah Dave!). They have a box for $85, http://www.famous-smoke.com/padron+londres+cigars/item+11879

Not bad at all. Going to smoke a few fresh, then age the rest. Man, Greg this review has me chomping at the bit for these!

Fired another one of these up this morning and decided to take a peek at Greg's review to compare the flavors. Spot on. The box said these were rolled this year, but the cello already has some pretty deep coloration, and there is very noticeable tooth like in Greg's pictures. I'm wondering if they had a bunch of aged stock that they just packaged and sold as new. I wouldn't hesitate to grab another box.

Just pull the trigger on a box,I had too after this great review.
I was surprised by the low price .

Thanks Greg for another great review, hopefully my box will be here soon so I can try one.

This is the second time you've insinuated tooth is a product of age. I've always thought that tooth was the presence of magnesium and other nutrients in the wrapper. If you're associating tooth with age do you have a link? There was a decent tooth discussion a couple of weeks back and I learned quite a bit about it but am always anxious to expand my paltry cigar knowledge.
