Ah yes, it’s a perfectly wonderful lazy Monday afternoon, thoroughly enjoying vacation just relaxing around the house. It is hot out, however not so bad in the shade of the walnut tree with a nice breeze blowing. As everyone can tell, I’ve been on a Padron kick the past several days and this afternoon I’m putting fire to one of the 7000 sticks I bought from Gabriel (gmiranda33) back in Oct 2007 here. This is the first one I’ll have smoked out of that five pack, so unfortunately can’t compare fresh to one with close to three years age. The wrapper is a medium to dark brown and still somewhat oily with small box like veins running the length. It feels light in the hand for the size, is very firm when squeezed, and with the cap punched I find the draw with just enough resistance to hopefully smoke just right.

With fire to the foot and burning good, I take my first draw to get a rather mild spice on the back of the throat with the strength on the mild side as well. Tons of smoke pours through the draw, which is working perfectly with the strength, and flavors are rich and delicious, as I already knew they would be, the finish lasting well after exhaling.

I brought out a Bell’s Cherry Stout to drink as it is quite hot and muggy, and it feels excellent as it slides down the throat. I have to admit it’s taken some time to really get used to the tartness of this beer, however I have definitely grown to enjoy it. The Padron is performing flawlessly through the first third and into halfway with the burn sharp leaving a light gray ash that holds well. After ashing at about an inch or so in, a fairly large cone is left that I feel is probably due to me smoking the cigar a bit too fast (enjoying it immensely I must say). Around the halfway mark, I noticed the strength did pick up slightly to a mild-medium with a bit more spice in the nose, tingling as I exhale. Flavors continue to be rich and downright delicious with a finish that is long on the palate.

Through the final third, the strength continued to build a little more and the spice became slightly more intense hitting the back of the tongue and throat just right. The burn remained sharp with the thick ash holding until tapped off. The smoke was cool and very smooth on the palate leaving an incredibly lasting finish that I wanted more of. But, unfortunately I reached the end of the cigar, and have to admit it burned fairly quickly for such a big stick. Absolutely one fine cigar for a lazy Monday afternoon!

I have prolly...a fiver of Bolis in different vitola to my name. I went down that slippery slope with both feet first, hit the bottom, and climbed up back to where I started, well...sort of. :D Most everything I have now is NC, and boy I don't want to slide back down agaaaaaiiiinnnnnnnn!!!!

Greg quitting Bolis??? THE END IS COMING, THE END IS COMING!!!

someone is on a padron kick . . . excellent reviews though!

One of the few Padron's I'm not crazy about. I just can't get into cigars with that large of a ring gauge.
