Partly cloudy out this morning with a faint breeze on the back porch that actually feels good as it’s a bit on the warm side, humidity showing 80%. The wife informed me we had a lot to do, she wants to go ahead and pull the Christmas tree down from the attic along with all the decorations. Not even Thanksgiving yet, but we’ve got company coming and since I’m off this week, she’s ready to get it done. So, I decided to look for a smaller smoke and found this little perfecto received as a tagalong from a box purchase back in March. I was told to take a Fuente Short Story band and slip on it, have some fun saying it was a Short Story maduro as it is almost identical; however I decided to just go ahead and smoke it as is.

I tried searching for information as I have no idea what it’s called, but couldn’t find any pictures anywhere; however did find one site that was selling a perfecto 1 maduro that sounded the right size, so that’s what I’m calling it. From the information on the site, this has Honduran and Nicaraguan binder/filler wrapped in an African Cameroon wrapper. The cigar is dark maduro in color with one prominent vein and slight tooth. It’s very firm when squeezed and after punching the cap I find the draw extremely tight, which will hopefully open up once the burn gets past the small, tapered foot.

Once lit, I several strong draws to try and get smoke flowing, which makes my head swim a bit. Once it gets past the small tip, the draw begins to open up perfectly and plumes of smoke pours through. There’s a mild spice that hits the back of the tongue and throat with the smoke itself a good medium strength, the body creamy smooth and slightly on the heavy side. The flavors coming through this little perfecto are rich with strong chocolate, coffee, and dark earth. I exhale slowly through the mouth and nose, thoroughly enjoying the lasting finish.

Through the first half, the burn is sharp with a medium gray ash forming that holds until a little over the halfway mark. I’m still getting a small amount of spice on the back of the tongue with the smoke itself a good medium strength and is silky smooth on the palate. Flavors continue to be rich and delicious with the chocolate very pronounced. The finish is incredibly lasting, making me smack my lips after exhaling slowly.

Into the final half, the burn remains sharp with a perfect draw and rich delicious flavor that lasts long in the finish. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this cigar as it hit my palate just right and paired well with the fresh cup of coffee I’m drinking. These would be great to have around for a quick smoke. Excellent cigar!

Ya know what I hate, every time I think about doing a review and adding a photo, you show up with this god wonderful photos and just scare the chit out of me.

Why don't you use the Poloroid and duck between two dark shade trees so we can't see so well.

Nice job as much as it kills me to admit it.

Oh yeah, its close enough to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving (and thanks for giving to us here on CP).

That was pretty brave of you to take a gamble on this holiday as your first smoke of the day. Started off on the right foot there, Greg.

Nice review!
