This is one nice looking cigar with leather like dark brown wrapper with one prominent vein running the length. It has a hefty weight in the hand, and as I squeeze it from head to foot I find a couple of soft spots that will hopefully not cause any burn issues. After punching the pigtail cap, I find the draw to be rather loose with a rich, dark earth tobacco taste coming through.

After toasting the tobacco covered foot, I take a number of puffs to get an abundance of white smoke flowing effortlessly through the open draw. The first half inch is pure power with full strength and strong black pepper spice that overpowers any flavor. However, after getting past the half inch mark, the power begins to mellow and I’m able to really start enjoying the rich smoke. Strong, dark tobacco with notes of chocolate and rich, dark earth is the taste I’m getting in lasting finish.

Halfway and the cigar is really coming into its own. The thick wrapper doesn’t want to burn causing it to get a bit uneven; however corrects itself well enough. Spice is hitting the back of the tongue and throat just right, the strength settling down to a good medium. The mouth feel is really good having a somewhat heavy body that leaves a slight oiliness on the palate. Flavors continue to be rich, dark earth with chocolate notes and a nice twang in the lasting finish.

This was definitely one slow burning cigar which I attribute to the thick wrapper. Through the final third, burn was sharp with a medium gray ash that held until tapped off in the ashtray. There was still spice coming through just right with medium strength smoke flowing well through the slightly loose draw. Flavors were dark and rich with a lasting finish through to the end. I have to say that it did remind me of the Pork Tenderloin, just bigger. An excellent smoke for a wonderful Thanksgiving day.

Dog? I see a white cat to the right. buy the way I enjoyed that smoke myself but I found it strong all the way which I liked
Nice review as always bro..

Your little one is growing up real fast Greg, did you get her a kitten for her to learn how to raise?

Great review on those Barclay Rex.

Too fast! My wife brought the kitten home after its mother was killed in the road. Jess carries it all over the house with her like a rag doll, cute as can be.

I don't know what it is, but every time I see a kitten, i want one again, but no!

I smoked the Barclay Rex on Wednesday and I got alot and I mean alot of sweet tobacco taste. Not as much spice as I was expecting. Real sweet and strong punch. It was good though, will be interesting to see if it changes with time.

ANd if that is anything like the pork tenderloin, I need one of those! :)

Good Lord dude, you could open a toy store! Thanks for the review, I can't wait to try one of these (and very thankful for Chico hooking us up).
