Woke up this morning to find it snowing out, at least a couple inches already on the ground, and looking at the weather it supposed to continue like this pretty much all day. Unusual around these parts. My baby girl got up, squealed with delight when she looked out the window, and wanted to go out first thing, which we did having a blast. Afterwards I decided to step out and enjoy my last day of Christmas vacation with a wonderful treat, actually a cigar I’d never even heard of until received; a Ramon Allones Topper.

This cigar has been kept really well as it had excellent construction with noticeable oils still in the medium to dull brown wrapper. It had a good weight in the hand, was very firm when squeezed, and after punching the cap I found the draw was unfortunately quite tight, which I hoped would open up more once the cigar was lit and warmed up. I toasted the foot, enjoying the smoke wafting up to my nose, and took a number of quick puffs letting the cigar rest in between.

After the burn had gotten a small amount of ash, I took my first draw, which again was a good bit on the tight side; however going slow and steady I was able to get a decent amount out. I found it to be very mild with no spice to be found on the back of the tongue, yet the flavor was quite good with a semi-lasting finish.

The burn was sharp with a medium to light gray ash forming that was loose, falling on its own a number of times. Even with the cigar warming up and the tobacco loosening a bit, the draw continued to be tight, which was very unfortunate as I think this really took a lot away from the cigar. I have draw tools; however I knew there was no way to get one through this small of a ring gauge, would probably crack the wrapper.

Even though it was difficult to get good smoke through, I continued on as I just couldn’t see putting down such a cigar. It continued to be very mild, which I attributed a good bit to the draw. Flavors throughout were good; however down towards the end it really started to shine with a rich, woody taste that had a hint of mustiness in the finish. What a treat to have smoked something this rare!

that's a shame about the draw, but it sounds like a delicious cigar, great review!
