I definitely slept in this morning with the Daylight Savings Time “Springing” forward, really did try to get up but just couldn’t bring myself to do it. :D It’ll be nice in the evenings after work now with more daylight to sit out back and wind down with my glass of scotch and good stogie. This morning I decided to try the Berger & Argenti Entubar my dear friend Matt (Anthem) gifted me on his last visit (thank you sir for your generosity). I’m a bit leery smoking this thing in the morning with an “Advisory” warning label on the foot stating “Thoroughly toast entire cigar foot before smoking”. But what the hey I like a strong cigar. :whistling:

The wrapper is a medium brown, has noticeable oil and minimal veins with the ligero leaf sticking out the center of the foot. It has a good weight in the hand, is firm when squeezed, and after punching the cap I find the draw perfect with taste of good, straightforward tobacco. I decide to ignore the Advisory and light just the ligero; however even with a good bit of puffing very little smoke comes through. Shame as I wanted to get a head rush this morning. The fire reached the actual foot and spread out perfectly all the way around. My first good draw brings a medium amount of spice with the smoke itself right at medium and a nice, full body over the palate. Flavors are good with hints of leather and a solid, straightforward tobacco taste that I’m really enjoying.

I’m heading into halfway in no time and the burn is sharp with a compact medium to light gray ash forming that holds until about an inch, and then falls into the ashtray as I go to sit it down. The strength of the smoke, which is flowing well through the perfect draw, is still right at a good medium with the spice hitting the back of the throat just right. Flavors are consistent with good, straightforward tobacco with hints of leather and a slightly charred wood taste that lingers on the palate after exhaling.

I try to slide the oversized band off, but unfortunately its way too tight so end up using the small scissors on my Swiss Army to clip it off. I accidentally snip a piece of the wrapper as I’m clipping my way up, which hopefully won’t cause any issues once the burn reaches it. There’s an inscription on the inside of the band that’s pretty cool.

Heading into the final third, the little snip I made actually does make a mess as the wrapper cracks all the way to the cap, and slight unraveling begins. The smoke towards the end really picks up becoming very full strength with a powerful spice hitting the back of the throat, and I like it! Unfortunately the cigar exploded right at the end, and I went ahead and sit it down.

This was a really good cigar for me with sharp burn, perfect draw, and solid, straightforward tobacco flavor that hit my palate just right. Just a great, solid smoke that would probably be more suited for later in the day. I thoroughly enjoyed it Matt, many thanks again for the opportunity to sample.

I went to the website and am quoting the information listed there:

“ENTUBAR® is a full-bodied, super-premium cigar brand that merges ‘Old World’ cigar making with ‘New World’ innovation. ENTUBAR® is a truly unique creation that pays tribute to the time-honored Cuban cigar making technique known as ‘entubar’ while also establishing an innovative patent-pending process of cigar manufacturing not seen in the premium cigar industry before.

Each deeply aged Nicaraguan filler leaf is carefully rolled into itself creating delicate ‘scrolls’ of rich, flavorful tobacco. This age-old method ensures open chambers of air flow from the foot to the head of the cigar, creating a superior draw. What makes this new brand stand apart from all others is the revolutionary manufacturing process and appearance of the ENTUBAR® cigar. The ligero tobacco that lend the cigar its unique full body is bunched independently before being ‘re-bunched’ directly into the center of the remaining ‘entubar’ rolled filler blend. This ligero ‘channel’ ranges the full length of the cigar and extends ¼” beyond the finished trimmed foot, creating a startlingly unique ‘fuse like’ appearance that virtually assures a perfect conical burn, long white ash and a rich, complex mosaic of flavors directly focused to the aficionado’s palate. Due to the meticulous small batch production of ENTUBAR®, only a limited number of tobacconists are authorized as ENTUBAR® merchants in the United States.

Comprised of all Cuban seed Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos, ENTUBAR® is graced with an Ecuadorian ‘Desflorado’ Connecticut-seed wrapper which lends its characteristically long, sweet finish.”

Just clip the ligero "tit" off before lighting. Nice pics!

Price point is a bit high for the value but I enjoyed the Torps very much. Perfect construction and balance.

Actually, you don't clip the Ligero before lighting.

Thanks for the review Greg. Glad you liked it... I will have to get you the Quad Maduro. You'll like that one more.

I just found it easier to light. I haven't tried the Quad maduros yet. Bet they're tasty, too.

I just smoked one of these for lunch and I thought it was a great smoke. I didn't know how to handle the foot either so I lit it and took a few empty puffs on it to get it going and lit the rest of the foot. I found it to be a stronger than medium strength and full of spice.

The one I smoked was a maduro, was yours a natural wrapper? (sorry, its been almost a month) The B&M I was at had both wrappers. I bought a few of the maduro torpedos for warmer days :)

That's a natural. I'm supposed to review the maduro that CigarmanAndy included in his boom.

Monday is gonna be the first day in the 80s so that plan may come together yet.

New CyberShot, too.

I think you will really enjoy the maduro wrapper. Enjoy the warm weather, 80s!

Great review on this Greg, I had one sitting in my humi gifted from Brandon (Hojadepuro) during December. Mine was the torpedo vitola of this line and I made sure to fully toast the foot without clipping that little ligero nipple. Good thing we as cigar smokers don't lick the foot before lighting our smokes or else I'd have never gotten around to lighting it. While smoking it, I could distinctly see the ligero roll throughout the ash if you look directly at it, pretty cool.
I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar and glad I chose it for my last stick of the night. Figured since I have to fast for a cholesterol test tomorrow morning, this would be a nice memorable treat for me. Let's hope the new meds I get help me get below 300 :0

Thanks again Brandon!

I had one of the Natural Double Coronas on Friday and a Quad Maduro Corona Macho on Saturday. The natural DC was an exceptional smoke! To note I lit the entire foot of the natural. Really digged the flavor profile, and it was one of the cigars that I enjoyed most so far this year. With the Maduro, I lit only the nipple and was a good smoke as well. I enjoyed the natural more then the maduro though.

I'm gona switch around how I lit the foots to see how much it affects the cigar. I'm kinda interested to see if there is any difference.

I am definitely looking forward to smoking more of the naturals!

Great review Greg ( as usual ) they sound like a damn fine smoke, glad you enjoyed it bro.
