What an amazing day it is with temps close to 80F with a soft breeze blowing through. Lots of folks cruising by on their Harleys, makes me really miss mine this time of year. I grabbed a bottle of Founders Curmudgeon earlier and stuck it in the fridge, nice and cold now. Just put fire to an Ashton VSG Sorcerer from 2002 that has a medium to dark brown marbled wrapper that is still full of oily goodness. The cool pre-draw was of well matured tobacco with a hint of mustiness.

The cigar started out rather mild for my palate with very little spice; however the flavor is incredibly rich and full of complexity. I grab my iPhone and put on some tunes, first up John Cougar Mellencamp The Authority Song. That’ll do. I take a long pull on the Founders Curmudgeon and oh how good the stuff goes down. It would certainly not do to have a good supply of this stuff as I would be hurtin’ in no time at all, or should I say not feeling any pain. :whistling:

As Desperado by the Eagles plays, I take another long, slow draw from the Ashton and let the incredibly rich smoke slowly flow from my mouth and nose, thoroughly enjoying very well taken care of old stogie. The ash falls easily the second go round, which is fine as it lands on the ground below. Another pull on the Curmudgeon, the cool, soft breeze feeling so good…life is good.

My dog Mandy is laid out with belly up in the sun, can hear her snore slightly over Hooty & The Blowfish. I think to myself that I should be up and working on the pool that has been quite neglected over the winter. Naahhh I say and take another good draw from the cigar, which is now at halfway. The strength and spice has been building the further in I’ve gotten along with the complexity of flavors. Ah cool, 38 Special comes on as I reach for the Curmudgeon, which I am definitely not Holding On Loosely. Only a small amount left, but I can feel the 8.9%. Tell myself, “Damn son, slow down.” Ah well…too late.

So relaxing out here, wife and baby girl have gone to a birthday party at the Sonic; bet Jess is having a blast. Will be lots of pics to go through later this evening, that is if the wife remembered to put the card back in the camera, which she has already done a couple times previously. HA! Some kind of bug just landed on Mandy making her jump up and do some kind of dance, too funny. Well, the Curmudgeon is now gone, and I’m coming to an end with the Ashton, both were incredibly good. Wishing they were both back at the beginning!

I hope you all are having a great weekend as well!

One of my Fav's! I believe you sent my first one as a gift? i think it was you lol. Anyway enjoyed the review!

How have the VSGs - straight from the shop - been smoking lately?

-Mark

While the 02 stick was an excellent smoke, it had lost some of the power that I really enjoy in the fresh sticks, which are smoking very well btw.

Ive also found fresh VSGs to be much stronger than some aged ones. My first I had with cocoa in 50 degree weather by the pool, chilling with my big fluffy bathrobe on. Was an awesome experience to say the least.

VSG is good stuff.

Much thanks to you and the rest of the bunch for the quick feedback. I'm trying to put together an order and I've got little idea of how cigars are smoking stateside these days.

I hope all is well with you, Greg. Nice review, as always.
