This is the last of the Los Blancos I received from Andy (Cigarman Andy). From what I’ve read the Primos cigar has a three year aged Habano Criollo Rosado wrapper, Nicaraguan Jalapa binder, and Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian filler. There’s noticeable oil on the wrapper, a prominent vein running the length, and seems to be well constructed. With a good weight in the hand and no soft spots to be found, I punch the cap and find the draw perfect with a rather sweet tobacco taste.
After torching the foot, I take a couple quick puffs and then a long draw to get a good white pepper spice on the back of the tongue and throat. I find the smoke a medium strength with a nice body, seemingly medium as well. Flavors are semi-rich, somewhere in between the Criollo and Sumatra, tasting of wood, coffee, and what I believe to be a rather vegetal quality with a somewhat lasting finish on the palate.
A third in and the burn is sharp with the ash somewhat loose, falling on its own on the floor of the back porch. Medium strength smoke is flowing effortlessly through the perfect draw with a good, medium spice hitting the tongue and throat. Flavors continue to be semi-rich with what I keep thinking as vegetal in taste along with dark earth, wood, and a bit of black coffee.
Halfway and into the final third, the strength seemed to build close to a full strength with the flavors intensifying as well, the earthy quality taking over a bit more than before. I have to say this was a really good cigar with sharp burn, perfect draw, and really delicious flavors that seemed somewhat complex throughout. I started thinking about the three bears (yes, my baby girl loves me telling that story) where it wasn’t too mild, wasn’t too strong, but just right.
