So I had this idea last summer after having my first really good micro batch brew. It was an '09 Abyss on the recommendation of a store owner. Well, that slippery slope was worse than cigars. There is nothing like having a good stout or porter with a cigar.

So my idea was to get 99 bottles of beer on the wall. I want to get to 99 bottles in my man cave and then when I drink a couple I replace them always having 99 bottles. Then when I have a party or some really good night with the misses, I would have a barometer to see how I did. For example, we got to 93 bottles last night. That would be a huge accomplishment with the beer I have here. Right now I have 84 bottles of the following:

Boulder Brewery Killer Penguin
Odell's Double Chocolate Stout (I can't seem to keep these on the shelf)
Stone Vertical Epic
Odell's Saboteur
17th Anneversary Wood Aged Double IPA Yeti
Express Oak Aged Yeti
Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti
Oak Aged Yeti
Santa's Lil' Helper
2010 JUBEL Decade all from Deschutes
'09 Abyss
'11 Abyss
Black Butte
Avery's Wake Up Dead
Firestone Walker Parabola
Firestone Walker XV

Here is an image of what we have going on.

That's a great selection you have there.

If you can Bear Republic out there, it would be a nice addition. My favorite is Racer 5.

Isn't that an IPA? I love that beer, but I don't think it ages well.

Barley wine, quads and BSDA are some other styles you can age well.

OK, so I have some Barley's (killer penguin), and quads (Stoic), but what is a BSDA? Thanks

Not sure how well it ages, it never stays at my house long enough to find out...

99 different bottles would be the ultimate! Your collection does look quite handsome all organized and on the shelf. I leave mine in the boxes because I don't like the dust on them.

If you want some Ohio beers let me know. Boris (Hoppin Frog) and Blackout Stout (Great Lakes) are two of the better stouts made around these parts.

Yes, I agree 99 different would be insane. The issue I have is I love all these beers and actually have a hard time drinking them. If friends or family come over we break into them and wake up the next morning reailizing the effects of trying to down them. Then it is just as much fun to go "chase" new bottles to put up.

I will take you up on that Stout for sure. Let me know when you get your hands on some.

That is great! But how do you get it cold?

Our basement stays pretty cool, and they are mostly stouts. So I just use a chilled glass.

I'm finding I like my beers more and more at room temperature, especially porters/stouts/barleywines.

The flavor profiles are definitely much more pronounced.

I would also put some IPAs on that list. The hops smell and taste fuller when they aren't ice cold.

Yes, I am up to about 89. I have added some Yeti's as I come accross them, and some Killer Penguins from Avery. The problem is my other habits are interfering. Went to Palm Springs recently, which is never cheap. I have given some of the Abyss away to friends for special occasions and so on. I should get to 99 by my b-day in late March. Then there will be an EPIC night and start it all over again.

Just found 2 bottles of '07 Abyss, 3 bottles of '08 Abyss and 3 bottles of Black Butte XX. This rounds it out and now it is time to drink, bomb and re-stock. Heads up boys and girls.
