I was able to find some Macallan Select Oak in doha's Duty Free. I tried some when I finally got home and its tasty. I bet it will open up nicely with a little water. I was excited that the bottle was a liter rather then the standard 750 US bottles.
Glad you enjoyed it. I'm more of a tequila drinker (tequila is the new scotch, ya know), but I really enjoyed the Select Oak.

How is tequila the new scotch?
LOL! That's just a saying I have among my family and friends. Scotch has long had a reputation as a high-end sipping drink, with a loyal following of educated, well-informed fans. But tequila has come a long way in the past 5-10 years in terms of quality and overall acceptance. Tequila bars are popping up in most cities and aficionados of the spirit are becoming more educated in what makes a good tequila.
On a personal note, tequila is my drink of choice. I have tasted almost a hundred different tequilas, visited several tequila factories in Jalisco, MX, and have quite a few different brands in my liquor cabinet. When I smoke cigars, I prefer to sip tequila instead of scotch.

I knew there was something odd about you.
But then, you've known that for awhile, eh?
I enjoy a good scotch as well, Ray. I've got 3-4 bottles of single malt in the cabinet. Then again, I've got a dozen bottles of tequila. And another one arriving via FedEx this afternoon.

Tequilla makes me take back stuff I never stole. (But a snake bite is still my favorite shot)
Had some of those mixers ( snake bite ) last weekend and they taste great, they are called Rattlesnakes here.

Te Amo was very, very nice. Sippable. Lots of agave flavor. Now I'm . . . seeing possibilities beyond margaritas as big as my head, which was my favorite venue for tequila previously.

I've lately become intrigued by good tequilas. Jose Quervo, you fucked us all!

I prefer Tequila Anejo and Reposadas...but sometimes a Tequila Blanco paired with a Sangrita Chaser is just what's called for...

Yep, that's me as well. I'm a sipper, so drink Anejos (95%) and Reposados (5%) exclusively. Unless, of course, there are margaritas involved. Then I reach for the cheap bottle of Blanco I keep for just those ocassions.
I just picked up a bottle of Don Julio 1942 over the weekend. Can't wait to pop the cork on that one next week.

Very nice...enjoy the 1492...haven't had that one in a few years, but I remember it well.
