Holy crap - like many folks, I bought a copy of "An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars" (MRN book) some time back. It's a beautiful book, mine spends most of it's time tucked away safely.

Bumped into it on Amazon today, looking for something else. WOW......

Mine's in like new condition....wonder what it'll be worth, ten years from now...??..!!!

You might want to look into insuring that fine piece of literature. :D

My first edition cost me $85.00 shipped circa 2003. The old timers gave me grief because they paid $65.00 shipped on the original group buy..

I know of one site that has the 2005 reprint listed as available for $199.00 USD + shipping. An updated "second edition" has been in the works for a long time, but the rumored release date(s) have never met fruition.

Damn. I was just thinking about looking for one. I had one in my possession at one time, but traded it for smokes..... Ughh.

Even the 2005 version (which I have) commands plenty...!! Wow, I think I paid $85.00 for mine, too.

If you could pick that copy for for $199.00....I'll bet you could triple your money if you wanted to fiddle with it.

Wow, I would like to see if people are actually buying at those prices....i just looked at my copy the other night after wiping the spilled drink off the dust jacket. I used to have 2 copies from the group buy a few years back. One had a couple of misprinted pages so they sent me a correct version and told me to keep the other. I later sent that to someone in Canada as a gift but it never showed up.....dammit!

Added, looks like a few ebay sales in the $300 range...http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?rt=nc&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=min%20ron%20nee&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283

Nobody is going to pay that much for a copy with half the pages stuck together. You really should have kept one for the shelf and the other for "spilling" on...

I have mine that I paid 125 euro for back in 2006?

I wouldn't sell it anyway. I never part with books.

A correction for the archives...

A little research showed that my prices were off on the original group buy(s) back in 2003. First time around was $80 shipped / $115 shipped for the first edition.

Those are crazy prices! Glad I got it when I did.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my copy. I believe there are only 5000 of these produced. It is a good reference with beautiful illustrations.

I have the reprinted version of the MRN book at that cost me about $120. However, I think the value of these books may decline as demand for the 1st Edition of this book falls. MRN is currently working on a 2nd Edition of his famous book and its been in the works for several years. No date in terms of release. One can only hope that it will be sooner rather than later.

Topped

Thought some members would appreciate some details of the first edition, considering the new details released regarding the second edition!

The photography just adds to the knowledge of the material. If you can find a used one at a decent price well worth it. I use it when certain cigars become available helps to call out hinky cigars.

What's funny is that he is smoking a fake (or sad rather).... but I guess that fits.

For the new collection you will have to spend $500 to have an authorized certificate of transfer issued to a new owner each time you sell it!

I wonder if they'll do annual audits to make sure this is being enforced :sign:
