Seriously Guys, I need your input.

How far would you drive to attend a large Herf? (Maybe 500 to 1000 people) How much would you spend for a ticket? I am 3 hours from Chicago, Detroit, and Columbus, and about an hour and a Half from Indy. Is that too far to drive?

Thanks for your input.

Steve

I personally woudl drive about 2 hours each way to herf. Here in Houston we have guys that drive about 45min to an hour each way for a herf. Luckily for the Wednesday night group out meeting spot is "on the way home" (in a very general sense) from our respective jobs.Once I move, I don't mind the idea of a two hour drive to Tampa or Orlando for a herf. Good luck planning this. There are some very old non-posting BOTL in the South Bend area.

I will be driving 4.5 hours to the Quad State Herf and i would say that would be my max. I'm not in a position to be able to fly anywhere for a cigar event.

500-1000 people is enormous. At that point it's not really a HERF anymore, imo. I've driven 2-3 hours each way to herf with a handful of guys. Personally, for something with that many people, I'd be less inclined to drive long distances.

Is tomthirtysixtwocents guaranteed to be in attendance or not be in attendance?

I'm not sure where you'd even find 500-1000 people for a HERF. That sounds more like a cigar event. I live in the Southwest corner of Michigan so Chicago isn't really that far but I'm not sure I'd drive there for a HERF. That's more traffic/parking related than distance related.

I'm not real familiar with the area but a Goshen/Elkhart/Southbend area would be cool. If you're willing to travel 2 hours then Kalamazoo is in range as well. While I haven't been to any, I hear they've got some cool smoke shops there. Since I grew up in Metro Detroit that's always an option as well schedule permitting.

Whatever you decide, let me know.

Anything over 2 hours and I would probably get a hotel since drinking and smoking go hand in hand. I would say my range is 4 hours driving

Who do you think is doing the hooking, stripping, pole dancing, masseusing, and modelling? (I draw the line at au pairing)

:whistling: If its over 2 hours it'll be with people I don't know and will probably partake in more of the entertainment and try and make the rounds to meet everyone, where if its 2 hours or less Its probably guys I know already and will herf with again shortly so not as much time will be spent in/with the bottle

Wow I reread what I typed and decided to leave it even though it makes very little sense... Let's just say I know the area better within 2 hours or home.

Find out who may be interested in joining in on this and then look for a "middle ground spot" to hold the HERF. That's what we did with our camping HERF a few years back. I would be interested in something like that, but it's a little too far north for me.

Are you thinking of a CP herf located somewhere in the middle of the country- A three day event with golf and a BarBQ?

Something in Ybor City would be good- not centeral to the US but a spot that is favorable to cigar smokers, we should get Jorge and JD in on this.

As far as price goes it would depend on what was offered, a three day event, 100$/day?

OK, I guess my original post wasn't clear as to what I would like to plan. I called it a herf, in reality it would be an event. Blues bands, Cigar passouts, prizes.....as much of the stuff you see at these events as can be afforded. It is a NOT FOR PROFIT event, with all proceeds going back into the event. I'm just checking feasability right now to see what it would cost and what I would have to charge to pay for everything. I am just asking for suggestions, opinions, etc. Thanks Brothers. All I want to do is bring together like -minded Brothers to enjoy a day / evening of smoking and bull-shi ting.

I'd drive up to 150 miles, but that's about it for a smoke.

I think an event should be classified slightly different than a regular herf. I've driven 10 hours for Dark Lord Day and would drive to KC from Houston for Outlaw Padron if the budget ever cooperated. I'd stick to my two hour statement if it is similar to what we do on a monthly basis in Houston.
