Hi Guys - it's my first post on CP, so I wanted to introduce myself. I run LINK REMOVED BY CP

I also want to reach out to those of you who operate a B&M shop or cigar lounge and direct you to a new section of CigarPlaces.com. We just launched the Manager Platform this week, which lets you as an owner/manager claim your location on CigarPlaces.com and manage all of the content on your location's page (photos, address/website info, description, categories, events, etc). It's a quick way to make sure that all of the information on the site related to your place is up to date and accurate - and that it does a good job of drawing people to your location.

If you manage or own a cigar friendly place, use this page to claim your location and access the platform: LINK REMOVED BY CP

The next step is going to be a system that allows you to run specials/discounts to CigarPlaces users. With around 250,000 people per year on the site, and a couple thousand using the iPhone app, I'm hoping it turns into a powerful mechanism to draw people into your shops and lounges.

What draws people into shops is good pricing, and excellent customer service. Oh, and knowing the difference between mold and plume.

Those things are all important, but they don't draw in new customers. You can't know if any of those things exist in the shop before you walk in. Unless you talk to someone who has been there, or read about a place on a site like LINK REMOVED BY CP. The site and app work to help people find great places to smoke that they haven't been before (by checking out pictures, reading reviews from other cigar smokers ...).
 
oi, a salesman's response. So you charge for advertising, but come to a free forum to pawn your site. Have you set up an account with this site, to advertise? Just curious how you operate, and what you think about coming in here trying to direct business away from this site to yours? Gotta be honest and say that it leaves a real bad taste in my mouth.

My site is a free resource, both for people who use it to find places, and for the business that list themselves on it. I sell advertising just like this site does, but my site is free to use, just like this site is.

It's missing quite a few shops in NJ and various places I travel to around the country... and your site is slow while using a laptop...is the app on a phone just as slow?

While I know your site is new & still growing, it should (at launch time) be sufficient enough to at least find SOME cigar shops in the areas you are in...correct?

Definitely needs more work for me to consider using it.

Thanks a ton for taking the time to give me your feedback, Gary. Always much appreciated.

I'll look into the speed issues that you experienced. Haven't heard any complaints about speed on the iPhone app, and we're just about to release a new version (should be available next week). The listings are added by visitors who know of cigar friendly places in their local area, so hopefully you'll see some more places in NJ pop up in the future (if you choose to come back).

If I read what you said correctly, you created the website, you sell the advertising for a profit, and the visitors supply the content needed to run it...for free?

Not a bad gig....
 
I believe CP already provides this service via our camaraderie. I wouldn't go to another site for advice when I'm 99% sure there is a brother/sister on here who knows where the best deals are in all major cities.
