The Freakin Frog has what is reported to be the largest whiskey collection in the USA along with the largest bottled beer collection in the country per their website. I stumbled in and met the owner today who showed me around. It is a very nice bar/restaurant directly across the street from the UNLV's Greenspun Hall. Adam the proprietor is a professor at the college and claims to have formulated a new tasting method that insures yours, and each tasting for that matter is completely different based on tests he's come up with. He uses his 3 step tasting process that I am more than a bit fuzzy about.
I don't care really.
He has 940+ whiskeys and 1100+ bottled beers at todays count. All waiting for me to try! I am seriously thinking about moving in. I'll be the troll that lives under the stairs. I don't know if this is the biggest or not, and frankly I don't care! This gem is here in Las Vegas. I cant believe I haven't been here before.
He will allow cigar smoking for special events however there are no smoking signs up all over the bar. A sad thing in Las Vegas but becoming more popular unfortunately.
His price average is $75 for a 5 whiskey tasting or $120 for a 10 whiskey tasting. These prices include tax and tip and is supposed to be the total out the door! However no cigars in these prices. He said $2000 and we could buy the place out from 9pm to 1am. All we need then is 20 BOTL's with a little scratch and we will have the place to ourselves. With his permission we can then smoke cigars and with their sheer bottle count, 10 untried drams for everyone! Except AVB, even at 900 plus it may not be enough to get 10 he hasn't tried.
I think Randy will be going here sooner rather than later. I'll bet he makes the drive over just for this place.
