Dewar's Highlander Honey

This trend has gotten crazy.  Flavored Vodka and rum is one thing.  Hell I have even seen a blueberry tequila.  But, man leave my whiskey be.  I blame the sacriligious Red Stag for starting this.  I am not sure who is drinking this stuff but, I hope this is the end of this trend and not the burgeoning tip of an iceburg.  I hate to see this garbage taking up limited shelf space next to my precious whisk(e)ys.  JMO.

I like Red Stag and Jack honey.   I know it makes AVB cringe also but I think its a nice addition to a Cherry Dr. Pepper and at the same price as normal beam it's a nice change for a mix in.

* Sorry for the thread hijack, back to your original purpose.

Great thing about a free market economy, if people will buy it there will be somebody there to supply it.  My only bones is that in a State run liquor system they only have so many sku's they can keep active and they will cut something to make room for something else.  We recently lost one of my favorites Laphroaig 10yo CS.

Personally Dewars Honey does little for me other than the possible addition in a hot toddy.  but, to each there own.

Another mystery solved.  :sign:

Dewars is Scotch for people who don't really like Scotch anyway, so meh.  Now, if Balvenie or Glendronach pulled something like this . . .

I was at my local Spec's picking up some more Monkey Shoulder this week, and---brandies are on the same aisle as Scotch---noticed a new "brandy infused vodka" display.  Like Red Stagg and American Honey and others, it's painfully sweet, according to Andy, the manager there.  And in a very, aaaah, "pimped out" bottle, lol.  He says that's what sells to the 21-34 year old crowd these days.

That is why I shouldn't post from my phone. All my quoted posts end up like a game of where's Waldo!

I had a few glasses of the Honey Jack and one other honey something I can't remember what it was...it's just sweet, like in a mixed drink kinda sweet, like it didn't belong there sorta sweet. Hard to describe, not something I would buy though.

I always laugh when someone mentions Dewars here on CP...my Mother drank Dewars for as long as I could remember...so me and my 2 brothers affectionately referred to it as "Feathers" because it was so light for a scotch.

Now that my Mom has passed away, I'm stuck with a few bottles of 'Feathers'...

PS: Monkey Shoulder...can't wait for that stuff to get to Southern NJ already!

Some friends gave me a pint of that American Honey---I think that one's a Wild Turkey product?---and I ended up using it to spike my peach and blackberry cobbler . . . it was just undrinkable, as far as I was concerned, but it was a fine substitute for the shot of bourbon I usually add to cobblers.

I keep hearing about that Monkey Shoulder.  Must be good stuff.

The three age statement Dewar's aren't bad with the Signature being quite good.  Given a choice I'd rather have a Famous Grouse 18 then a Dewar's 18 but I have and will drink both.

I need to open my bottle of Grouse 18 but I have so many open bottles it worries me. Nice problem to have I suppose.
