Flight's are now booked. May 5th 2014 - May 16th 2014. Let's get something planned while I'm in Germany!

Forgot to mention I'll be staying for roughly 5 days in Cologne. We plan on taking the train to Paris for the back end of our trip.

Jason

John, how far are you from Cologne (Koln)?  I'm two'ish hours away.  That might be central for us.  That's a bunch of time to work with.  I'll put it on the calendar.  I don't think I have anything going on around that time.  Sounds like a plan!

Jason, are you spending any time in Frankfurt area, or just flying in there and then off to Cologne?

I'm only two hours from Koln, also. I could plan for something there easy enough.

I honestly don't know if we'll be done doing much in Frankfurt on the day o fly in. Friends will be picking us up from the airport and taking us back to Cologne. I can't rule anything out though as I'm not sure if they wanted to show us the town since we'll be right there.

After that haul, you are not going to want to spend the day sight seeing in Frankfurt immediately after getting off the airplane.  I can guarantee that.  There's a great cigar-friendly bar in the Dom Hotel right next to the Dom (Cathedral) and Bahnhof.  Not sure what kind of smoking accommodations your friend's place will afford, so that's an option.

I'm still down for something. What's your schedule looking like?

I'm still trying to hash that out with the wife. Since we're staying with friends and have access to one of their cars we'll be wanting to visit some surrounding countries. I would love to visit Luxembourg city, something in Belgium ( just to say I've been) and the Dutch countryside. The tulips should still be in season when we arrive :)

I'd also like to belly up to a bar/pub in Belgium for some fresh Trappist brews, maybe you could help with that?

What do you think of the LCDH in Lux city?

It ain't nice to be jealous, but ok, now I'm jealous. Hope your brothers connect and have a great time. Cologne or Frankfort, two great places. Frug.

Sorry I'm late getting back to this, but what's your remaining schedule looking like?

I'm leaving today for Frankfurt. John and I plan on meeting up in Bruges Belgium on the 10th or 11th. Stay tuned as I'll update you both when I land.

Brugge will have everything you want for Belgian beers, btw. Tourist prices, but it's ask there. Just don't waste any money on Westvleteren, as they're not supposed to be selling it and they really gouge on the prices.

How many members are in Europe? I may need to know for future reference.

I doubt I make it over in the next month, but I should be there by the end of September. I'll be in Zurich if all goes well in obtaining my visas.

If all goes well, I'll be starting a permanent position at ETH. My plan at the moment (which is subject to life's changes) is to retire there. So hopefully I'll be there until I'm 65 so about 27 years.
