Kinda makes me sick to think we can promote drinking and alcohol use, but we can't see an ad about protecting our families...

Yeah, I saw that, but worried it would start a political conversation if posted here. :)

Your opinion doesn't matter noob. This could get political, in a hurry, and if you can't see that, there's no help for ya. We discuss guns all the time, but not the politics, and this post is on the edge. Accept it, and move on. A word to the wise should be sufficient.

I watched it and couldn't figure out what was so bad, until the dude starting talking.  Unfortunately, his diatribe was worse than the commercial itself.

That's fine. I didn't hear a word about politics in this ad at all. My opinion.

I heard a guy talk about how we can promote alcohol and drinking, but not the right to protect our families. The ad never even mentions the word "gun".

Thanks for the "peaceful" shout-out to a newb that is just asking if anyone saw this. I'll move onto another thread that isn't purposely invaded by hostility where it shouldn't be allowed.

Peace, brother.

You were doing fine until the last sentence. I got a feeling you ain't going to be around long.

Doc

What did you expect?

You're greeting was acerbic at best, and at least confrontational. I wasn't either of those things as that isn't my default setting. My participation is intended to be delivered with kindness, not with what I've been thrown so far.

Hopefully the rest of the folks here will allow me to bring some of my 35 years plus cigar rolling, smoking and growing experience to this forum and use it to improve the cigar experience for and of others.

You can watch that ad, from Daniel Defense, note the fact that the NFL nixed it, and not see the potential for political arguments?

These forums have a very strict rule - no politics.  You may not like it, but it is how it is.  jfields told you nicely, you didn't get the hint, so Doc explained it with a little more emphasis.  What did you expect...??

Most of us have been here for quite a while and understand why things are the way they are.  And, most of us actually like it that way.

You're new, stick around, try to get a feel for how these forums roll.  Chances are you'll like what you see.  Pushing back against long standing rules, however, won't garner you a warm reception.  That's completely up to you.

I guess he wasn't wise. They never are. (sigh)

I mentioned nothing about p^%*#%+, nor did the ad I posted about.

There is no reference to such (at all) and the only reference to "it" (at all) so far has come from those who seemingly want to inject the notion of a possibility that it "might" be referenced somewhere, maybe....

I haven't done so, but I am being "welcomed" by those who want to some how find away to make it seem so....and spit at me in the process.

See you in another thread perhaps, but please hold the "salt".

I take back the nice things I said earlier.  If you can't see how that ad and the controversy surrounding it's refusal could be considered political, you're an idiot.

It may not mention politics, but everyone knows that this is one of the issues splitting the 2 sides. So, no, it doesn't mention it, but it doesn't take a genius to see what is being inferred.

I actually applaud the NFL for not showing it.  I can't imaging how uncomfortable it would be to see this at a party with diverse backgrounds and beliefs on everything.  The policy is no politics and it works very well for this community.  If you don't like it, don't post here.

Are you ok with seeing Viagra commercials during a football game?

I'm far more appalled by that crap than an ad about how I can better protect my family - which by the way features someone portraying a United States Soldier.

I and have never heard Flo Rida say anything about blow jobs in his "Blow my Whistle" song either, but we all know what he is talking about. (and why my daughter does not listen to it)

And for the the record, in my very humble opinion, anytime you even elude to a topic as polarising as Gun Control, it is political.

That doesn't make anyone an idiot, not even you. And I won't hold it against you for not being able to bring fact to your own argument.

Where is the real "controversy"? This "controversy" you mention, isn't part of present-day or historic American nomenclature, it is imagined.

This "controversy" is created by the NFL to make more money. Or, at least not to lose money… Which is what the NFL is about nowadays. It is not about football, rather it is about commercialization and selling of things that the NFL thinks people want, not about the game of football.

Controversy? Not unless you've got a great imagination, or find yourself calling someone an "idiot" because all the kids are doing it ;)

A business is all about making money? Wow... cutting edge stuff there.
