Evil Empire hit with luxury tax for fourth year in a row

"Because the Yankees have been over the tax threshold at least four consecutive times, they pay at a 50 percent rate on the overage, and their $28,113,945 bill was second only to their $34.1 million payment following the 2005 season. The Yankees are responsible for $252.7 million of the $285.1 million in tax paid by all clubs over the past 11 years."

Some people just don't give a shit.

I just want to see how Gary tries to break it down...

It's no small wonder, and quite predictable I might add, that whenever the Red Sox win ANYTHING more than the Yankees after a season...their fans get out their step ladders, climb up on their little soapboxes, and yell out...'look at us!' Why?...you're World Series Champions for God's sake! Enjoy it!

But the question is always the same...WHY are the Red Sox fans so enamored with what the Yankees are doing? As Yankees fans, we don't give a flying sh*t what the Red Sox do. Why not try singing THEIR own virtues & successes? Instead they attempt to put the Yankees down...why?... to make themselves feel good so they can sleep better at night knowing the Earth is flat?

Or could it be...

1) Little brother syndrome?

2) Still pissed about the Babe Ruth fiasco? That they traded away the Father of Modern Baseball and that he wears a Yankee uniform instead of a big red B?

3) Feelings of 'whatever they accomplish, it'll never measure up to the Yankees rich history?'

4) Screaming for attention that they won the World Series and still take a back seat to the Yankees in the offseason whenever a Yankee farts?

5) They have more money to spend on their team to satisfy their loyal fans?

6) New York is the cultural center of the World and Boston is...uh, well, it's Boston. You know, the place where the second best clam chowder comes from.

7) Or is it simply jealousy?

What amazes me is they act like this is their money and all fans in Boston are General Managers managing a payroll. I get the whole 'lunch pail, we grow beards like working class people do, mentality'...but who cares?...enjoy being the Champions!

Well, your guess is as good as mine...but there is definitely a pattern here. Didn't hear a peep out of them last year.  :whistling:

So, while you Red Sox fans are all closely monitoring the Yankees' payout on their luxury taxes, and thank you for your genuine financial concern by the way, maybe this is why the Yankees don't care about a few measly million dollars...

Boston Red Sox

There John...you know me all too well!  ;)

It's got nothing to do with any of that. I just like winding up Yankee fans. Thank you for meeting my expectations. ;)

Doc

I was going to chime in here to gang up on Gary but after reading that tremendous pile of bullshit of epic proportions, I have to say I'm rather impressed that he conjured up such a fast and lenghty rebuttal.

Fag

Are Boston fans saying they didn't buy their World Series titles? If so, that is a laugher.

Nah, he probably saved it from one of Phil Rizzuto's diatribes.

As a Yankee fan, it's fun & easy reminding Sox fans who rules the roost.  ;)

Better luck next time Hank....Merry Christmas!

No... Every team spends money... Just that they don't try to buy a guaranteed win like the Yankees.

Most of their championships came before free agency. So that doesn't really good water. They have actually only win 5 since 1977 when free agency really started.
And let's not fool anybody here. Boston did have the 3rd highest salary.

I thought we were talking recent history... Close to $70 million of a salary gap is anything to fool about. You can add a lot of premium talent with an additional 70M.

An arbitrator upholds most of Alex Rodriguez's 211-game suspension, relieving the team of a large percentage of the third baseman's $25 million salary.

This!! I soo want this! I hate him. I hate him so much. Nothing would make me happier then to watch him crash and burn hard.

So are you saying they bought this recent title? Yea they had a high salary this year but if everyone remembers when the Sox started to pick up players after the claps in 2012 everyone laught at what they were paying most of them and that they weren't going anywhere with the team they had. Now they bought that championship... Are you kidding me!
