It's that time of year.

Call them, mention calling about the genie upgrade, 3 months free premium channel and NFL Sunday ticket free all with 24 month agreement. Helps to have website open with promo showing. Insist it says nothing to exclude current customers.

After all was said and done. I had to call twice. Initially was only interested in the genie upgrade. Then they threw in HBO free for 3 months. 1 time $99 install fee billed to my account.

Next day I got them to give me NFL Sunday Max for $9.99 per month for 4 months instead of $39.99 per month. Guy threw in a $15 a month package discount for 12 months so my bill form January through August of next year will be $75!!!

Always call to see what they can offer. I've been a customer since 06, so that helps.

I believe they know many are dropping them like flies for alternative entertainment options.

Good company, great customer service. I've been working for DIRECTV for a little over 3 years now training technicians and love it.

The free tv helps :p

I'm a big fan of Directv.  I've had good customer service there and good promotions.  I had xfinity for years, and I now feel like an idiot for paying twice as much for twice as little.

Directv has been great and I am looking forward to my 2014 NFL Ticket, for free.

I'd like to cut the cord, if my wife didn't insist we had pay TV.

I cut the cord 3 years ago and don't miss much.............with the exception of NFL games.

Yup.  Cut the cord as well about 4 years now.  I go with digital bunny ears and an old spare pc plugged to the tv.

I cut the cord with them about 3 years ago...
I'd been with them for over 12 years at that time & asked to upgrade to the different box & NFL ticket for the kids, they denied me & said it was only for new customers.
The whole time I'd been with them I had every channel you could subscribe too except NFL, I told them #%$* off & left, been happy ever since!!

Comcast may be the devil, but around here, if you want stable, quick internet, they're the only real choice.  Once you get that close to the end of the pier, you may as well jump.....

Honestly, other than the co$t, Comcast's service has been great.  Just burns my bacon once a month to send the fund$.....

While I do love that I switched to Directv, I kept my Comcast internet because it is fast and reliable.  It costs me 80 damn dollars a month, but it's good internet.

Yup came here to say just that. I miss satalite but I can't justify paying for both and I need interent.

I've been with directv for about ten years.  Every once in a while, I too call them to see what I can get free.  I hadn't called in a while so I decided to do so a few months ago and received some good discounts.  The only thing I hate is the little charges here and there that make my monthly package balloon to around $150 a month.  Things like $ for each genie (I have four), $ for dvr, and $ for HD.  Those extra charges add up, particularly if you have several genies like me.  Still, I'm a fan of Directv.

I don't know, I can't see how people spend so much money on TV.  Too bad you can't pay per channel.  Also a shame there still aren't any internet based tv companies, where channels could be delivered via the internet instead of a dedicated and costly line.  I have Time Warner and pay $90/mo for both 20mb internet and HD tv.  Still too much in my opinion.

And with net neutrality suffering a painful death, it looks like it is not going to get any better.

I totally agree Rod, so much for an option that truly provides the consumer with a choice other than all or nothing!

I mainly watch sports on TV. But since I live on the east coast, rain can be a bummer on Direct TV. Seventh game of the world series turns into "searching for satellite signal"!!!!
