It’s almost 70 degrees this morning with the sun shining, birds singing, and no wind. Almost feels like it’s Summer again. I wish I could send some of this warm weather to those stuck in the blizzards out there.

It being such a beautiful morning, I decided to have a decent sized smoke so picked out a 1998 Partagas Serie Du Connaisseur No.2 I recently got in Phil’s pass. I’ve heard a lot of good things about these cigars and was looking forward to trying it. The wrapper was a gorgeous golden brown with tiny veins throughout and a nice, oily sheen. There were tiny crystals that sparkled when held in the sunlight. There was a solid feel to this cigar with a perfect weight in the hand and very little give when squeezed.

I punched the cap with the smallest ring in case the draw was loose, however the draw was absolutely spot on, so I went ahead and punched it out with the medium ring. I torched the foot and first draw was incredibly rich tobacco flavors with medium spice. Cocoa and sweet honey, roasted almonds and cedar wood. Delicious! Smoke, medium in strength, flowed from the burning foot, and a dark gray ash formed from the perfect burn.

What an incredibly smooth and long finish came from this cigar, delicious on the palate. The flavors remained consistent throughout, and I enjoyed every last inch.

Very nice review Greg. With 10+ years of age this cigar still packs quite a punch for a thin cigar. It's also a cigar that is very over looked by most due to it's size I would imagine. The other two sizes in the range are just as good. Also the Partagas Charlottes with a 35 ring is also another great example of how a small ring can come through with big flavor. Too bad it was discontinued in 2002.

Being a lancero-whore, it's on my list (even though it's not a true lancero). I've had the Serie Du Connaisseur No.1, and really enjoyed it. Thanks

Oh these are good! I believe you have the flavor profile spot on!
