It’s actually been a while since I’ve smoked a Guapo, which is one of my favorite NC cigars. I picked up some Guapo RX a little while back and decided to have one this evening. The RX has Nicaraguan fillers with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, supposedly a medium bodied smoke, so we shall see.

The cigar is constructed well with the wrapper a golden brown in color and slightly coarse, but no noticeable veins. I do see a good bit of oiliness to it and a nice triple cap going to a pigtail on top. There’s a slight give when squeezed and a nice weight in the hand. After punching the cap, I find the draw perfect with just the right amount of resistance and sweet flavor is left on the lips.

After torching the foot and getting the fire burning even, my first draw is actually on the mild side with a very nice vanilla bean and roasted nut flavor. I’m finding the Ecuadorian wrapper giving off a sweet taste in the smoke. An excellent finish comes through that is long and lasting.

The burn was sharp and the ash forming a medium to light gray and very thick with the draw remaining perfect. Tastes of vanilla bean and roasted nuts continued with that nice sweet flavor on the lips. I believe I was detecting a hint of vegetable down in there somewhere. The smoke itself was a mild to almost medium in body with a nice splash of spice coming through, and the finish continuing to be long and lasting.

I really enjoy the Cabaiguan line and this one did not disappoint with a sharp burn, excellent draw, and delicious flavors of vanilla bean, roasted nuts, and a long sweet finish from the mild to medium bodied smoke. Excellent!

Awesome review as always Greg.

Thanks for letting me try a few of the Guapos. We liked them a lot.

The original line is becoming one of my favorite NCs as well.

Glad to see you're smoking more NC's these days man... there are plenty of good ones and this is becoming one of my go-to smokes as well. Great review!

Just scored a box of these in a Maduro wrapper and they are AWESOME!!!

Just had one (among others) at a smoker we had last week with Pete Johnson. It thought it was a really nice cigar. I have the original guapos but I really liked this size! My experience with it was as you described.

I enjoyed one of these the other night. great cigar, a little on the pricey side but what PJ cigar isn't? I agree though, absolutely delicious cigar.
