Not sure if anyone else does this, but I’ve got a desktop that I’ve put probably fifty or sixty different marca cigars in, good stuff mind you, and when I get home from work I open the lid just enough to reach in and just grab a smoke without looking. Kind of a daily surprise smoke. Today it was a DCM Robusto, yay! :D

The wrapper of the DCM is an El Bajo Ecudarian Ligero Oscuro Sun Grown with Domincan binder and filler. There’s some noticeable oil on the dark brown wrapper when held in the evening sun, and it’s somewhat coarse with small veins throughout. I find it firm when squeezed, good weight in the hand, and nice bunching in the foot. I punch the cap with the smallest ring on my knife, test the draw, and find it a bit tight so punch it again with the large ring. Okay, so now the draw is very loose. Ah well, better than plugged, right? I really like the band on a DCM, simply gorgeous.

After toasting the foot and puffing a few times, the cigar comes to life with tons of smoke. First draw has a perfect white pepper spice with good, leather and cocoa flavor. The smoke is a very good medium body that flows well over the palate and leaves a delicious finish after exhaling. There’s a richness in the smoke that is unmistakeable DCM.

A dark gray ash forms from the sharp burn and holds strong until ashed. The somewhat loose draw is actually working quite well with the medium to full bodied smoke. There’s a rich, sweet flavor coming through from the Ecuadorian Oscuro wrapper that is just divine. I find flavors to be complex with cocoa, leather, roasted nuts, wood. There’s seems to be an Opus quality to the smoke. Damn good.

I’ve yet to be disappointed with any DCM I’ve smoked, and this one was no exception. Delicios, rich, complex flavors with a perfect sweetness mingled with a perfect spiciness. The finish was exceptional and lasting on the palate. What else can I say, an excellent smoke for a perfect evening.

After reading your review I thought to myself "Man, I should really light up the one I have." Went to the Humi to grab it and it wasn't there! :0 Guess I already got to it   Another great review Greg.

Great review as always! I haven't had this particular vitola...but every DCM I had was top notch. Thanks!

The weather is getting nice and we all know what that means..... Random visitors, ie: snakes, raccoons, Greg always seems to attract random critters.
