Today’s smoke is a very nice looking Padron 6000 with a dark, oily brown wrapper with prominent veins throughout. There’s a very good weight in the hand and very little give when squeezed. The tapered head comes to quite a sharp tip and once cut with the Palio, I find a perfect draw.

After toasting the foot and a uniform burn going, I take a few puffs and then a long draw to find a very good white pepper spice on the tongue and back of the throat. The smoke is a mild to medium in body with cocoa and roasted nut flavors coming through as well as what seems to be ginger and worn leather.

The initial burn starts out well, however quickly goes to one side but doesn’t cause any real issues in the smoking. A medium to dark gray ash is forming that holds well until knocked off at about an inch in. Flavors coming through in the medium bodied smoke are dark and quite rich leaving a lasting finish on the palate. Very good spice continues to hit the back of the throat, thoroughly enjoyable.

The burn continues to be to one side through the halfway mark, so I finally end up having to do a touch-up, which helped only a little as the burn went sideways again. It seemed there may be some tunnel in the cigar as I was puffing away and not much smoke was coming through.

Hitting the final third, the cigar began smoking well again, producing what seemed to be a medium to full bodied smoke with a nice, strong spice coming through. I’m still very much enjoying the rich flavors of cocoa, dark roasted nuts, earth, and worn leather with a very nice, lasting finish lingering on the palate.

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this Padron with its perfect draw, rich dark flavors, and lasting finish. The burn wasn’t so hot (Ha! Pun intended!), however it wasn’t too awful bad. I’d say this was a very fitting smoke to have on Alan’s birthday. Alan, this smoke was for you my friend! :D Happy Birthday bro!

Padrons are not going to win any beauty contests, sometimes the burn is off a bit, but to me they have a great draw, and have an awesome nutty/chocolate/coffee flavor going on....I will try other smokes, and always seem to come back to padron...

Great review, I think you hit the mark....

What are you doing smoking the average joe's smoke? :sign:

Great review as always Greg. I have a few of these resting comfortably in my humi, I'm looking forward to toasting one.

With a little age, these are some of the best "everyday value" cigars out there.
