It’s been a very long week, and am glad it’s finally Friday, very much looking forward to a couple of days off. I’m relaxing this evening with a Padron Exclusivo Natural with a Colorado shade wrapper that doesn’t seem to have much, if any, oiliness to it and minimal veins. The cigar is box shaped, firm when squeezed, and slightly light in the hand, and I’m hoping it doesn’t mean a loose draw. I punch the cap and find the draw a little on the loose side, but not too bad.

With fire to the foot, my first draw reveals a nice white pepper spice on the back of the throat with a nice sweetness coming through in the medium bodied smoke. I’m getting some cocoa taste as well as toasted nuts and a hint of woodiness while exhaling through the mouth and nose.

The burn is sharp with a strong medium gray ash forming, and the draw is just right, allowing good, medium-bodied smoke to flow freely. I continue to get the spiciness with a really nice sweetness coming through and a superb finish on the palate that is lasting. Tastes are quite consistent through the first half, delicious.

Going into the last half, I’m totally relaxed sitting on the back porch with my animules hanging out with me. It’s cloudy out and fairly cool, so a very nice evening. The Cicadas are really singing in the trees, must be dozens of them to make that much “music”. I’m taking slow, long draws off the Padron every few minutes, thoroughly enjoying the perfect spice and deliciously rich flavors coming through in what seems to now be a medium to full bodied smoke. The finish is fantastic, long and lasting on the palate.

What an enjoyable smoke with a perfect burn, spot on draw, rich flavors, and excellent finish. I believe I could lay my head back, close my eyes, and drift right off to sleep. Much like the dog and cat have already done. Ah but dinner awaits and then the comfy couch will be calling to me. Of course, quality time with the baby girl will be in order. Sounds like a good evening. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Great review of one of my all time faves, Greg....

Nice to see the '64 naturals get some props; I think they are a tremendously underrated smoke, with most of the attention going to their maduro brothers.

Cheers - B.B.S.

Great review!! When it comes to padrons, I am a maduro man myself but still one hell of a stick!

I used to equate maduros with a more flavorful cigar. That is certainly not the case with the '64 and '26 series. You get all the flavor in the world in the natural wrapper as well and I have come to prefer them now. Great review Greg.

Great review, Greg, as always. I hope you have a relaxing weekend!

TFTR. One of my favorite cigars. Natural wrapper is my preference. A great way to finish a tough week.

Great review! I like the 64 a tad better than the 26. I like both the maduro and natural and the Exclusivo is a great size, too.
Thanks, Greg, for sharing.

Best,

Joe

Joe,I am with you.The 64 anniversary in maduro is my favorite cigar.Have yet to find anything that compares.Although I have never had a real isom.Problem around Indy is that they are hard to find and a bit pricey when you do find them.Good day,Bill

I smoked one of these for my first time recently and I've got to say I really liked it. I'm a huge fan of the 26's and was very pleasantly surprised when I smoked one of these. Great taste, near perfect construction. I couldn't ask for more.
