Ok. I sat and smoke my mystery cigar while watching Boston Legal.
Althought my taste buds are a little off due to the cold (much better now- thanks!),
it was a most enjoyable smoke.
The wrapper was a colorado or col. maduro. Nice presentation, not too veiny and very consistent - no soft
or had spots.
The cap was a single that clippered right off on this robust/toro size stick (I forgot to take measurements)!
Initial pre-light tast was of tobacco, was with the smell. It ws not overwheling, more light. A good start!
Upon lighting the draw was very good - and stayed that way throughout the smoke.
Initially it was a dry smoke with a mild tobacco taste. This lasted until about 1/4 - 1/3 - then the tasted became light and sweet - no not SC, he's sweetness and light!
This cigar gave plenty of smoke to roll off the palette and it never stopped.
The ash was more white/mild grey and flaky, but held it's own - unlike some Anejo's that tend to flake away easily.
At the half way point it was very rich with a sweet taste - wanting to go to carmel...not floral. It begged to be consumed.
There were some moments when the taste was a little woody. I attribute that to smoking the cigar to fast. As I slowed, the sweet taste came back. Note - eventhough the taste buds were getting flavor - this was still what I consider a dry smoke.
With about 1/3-1/4 left the cigar came back to a more tobacco taste, with hints of what it had been before!
I stopped at around where the middle of the band would have been so as to not spoil such a nice smoke.
It's a wonderful cigar who's taste I've had before - but different!
Between a the holidays, a hospital trip(for a relative) and my cold...I cannot find the band.
I'd have to say this was a Cusano.
I say Cusano because Mike likes to smoke Cusano's.

How old was it?
This is a review of a cigar I received from Satchmo. Thanks Bro for the chance to do this and for the very generous hitchhikers:
Initial Impressions & Prelight:
The cigar was ~ 5-3/4” X ~ 46 RG, a weird size, maybe Corona Gorda, short Churchill, not sure. The wrapper was light brown in colour with a faint greenish tinge. The cigar felt very dry in spite of the fact it had been resting in my big humi @ ~ 68% RH for a few days. Wrapper looked almost perfect with a few minor veins showing and a nice even construction. It was very firm with no give anywhere and no soft spots. Very faint prelight scent. Cap snipped off firmly but cleanly with the Xikar, exposing a very tight & even roll pattern. Prelight draw was quite tight, with a very light tobacco flavour that matched the scent.
Lighting:
Toasting the end gave again a matching scent of tobacco, but nothing special. It lit easily and evenly. Very little smoke from a tight draw, much tighter than I prefer.
Burn:
The burn was perfect at first, but turned a little jagged after the first ¾” or so but nothing that required touch-ups or even turning. The ash was a nice light grey and seemed firm, with no flaking. The edge of the wrapper at the burn seemed very sharp, in spite of the slightly ragged pattern. The pic above was just as the burn went a little wonky, and the one below was the worst it got. But minutes after the one below was taken, it righted itself quickly. The 2nd and 3rd pictures below were taken later in the smoke and show how the burn was very well behaved.
Flavour:
The first 1/3 of this smoke was nothing special. As it got to the middle 3rd, pepper seemed to faintly appear, then leave again. Mainly a nice tobacco flavour all the way except a few puffs that just seemed a bit grassy. Over the last inch I smoked the cigar, the flavour got a little more pronounced, but still only tobacco.
Strength:
The first 2/3’s of this smoke was very mild. The last bit I smoked became quite a bit stronger, but nothing I would rate more than medium. I think that can be attributed to the much easier draw over the final 1/3rd and hence more smoke.
Issues:
Issues were mildness, lack of smoke and when there was about 2” left of the smoke, I heard a snap & crackle. The wrapper split on me. The binder seemed in decent shape and didn’t split, and the split in the wrapper didn’t seem to affect the burn at all.
Final Impressions:
I laid it down with about 1-1/4” left (my lips were burning) at about 8:35, and had lit it at 7:25 PM. Very long smoke for a cigar of this size, IMHO. While I don’t see myself ever having a box of these around, I would probably have a 5er to keep for early Sunday morning smokes with nice strong coffee, or a smoke while tending the grill before dinner. I would put this in the $4-5 range, and if that’s right, there are better smokes for this price, but to each his own. The construction seemed perfect, and that doesn’t come from a fly-by-night outfit. I had absolutely no idea what it was and couldn’t wait to open the envelope to see what it was.
Rating & The Band:
I would have to give it between an 80 - 83 score. I like stronger cigars with more smoke and flavour, with an easier draw. Maybe I’m being harsh on the cigar because of my personal preferences, but that’s what I like. Give me a Padron 3000 or a Fuente Chateau Fuente any day.
I opened the envelope and wasn’t really surprised I hadn’t had one before, but it was a cigar I’d never even heard of. It was a Victor Sinclair Series 55 Yellow Label with a Cameroon Wrapper. I looked on top25cigar.com, and couldn’t find any reference to the size I noted above. Is this a new release from this roller??

I had the same impressions of the stogie after I had smoked for a while. The Victor Sinclairs are around yet. I spoke to a guy at one of the shops and he said the 55 was the flagship for th Victor Sinclairs. It was the first box of cigars I had bought. I really liked them at first (some of the first sticks I smoked).
They did not seem to have alot of flavor, but mild was good for me at first. I just wanted to get another opinion on them. I tried to make sure that you had a decent package to make up for the 55 :whistling:
I still have about six or seven left. I still smoke 'em. I am probably impartial because that was my first purchase. I would not buy another box of them. A bit more flavor is my liking now. I like the Pardron 3000 for the same price.
You can wash the taste out of your mouth with the the Anejo!!

Headed out to the shop to do my review of the smoke stevehawk sent me. Damn it is cold! Drinking a bottle of water with this.
Robusto, 5x50 (maybe 48)
Medium brown wrapper with some small veins.
Firm, no soft spots
Smells fantastic
Lit at 2:05 Finished at 3:25
Clipped of easily and clean. Great draw. Tastes of pure tobacco. Toasted the foot and lit up with no problems.
1st third
Draw remained excellent. Lots of creamy, smooth smoke. Earthy flavor, I would say medium. Starts to run a little, but touched it up a little with the z-plus and wasn't a problem the rest of the way. Ash is pretty tight and light gray.
2nd third
The strength picked up a little on the 2nd third. Also picked up some occasional floral hints. Continued to burn well. The wrapper cracked near where the band would have been, maybe the cold?
Final third:
The strenght really picked up. No more of the floral hints, but still creamy, and not harsh at all. Burned right through the crack without unraveling. Fingers started getting a little warm so finished it off.
Conclusion:
Overall the burn on this stick was pretty good, not perfect, but not a problem either. Flavor was very enjoyable, though fairly unsophisticated. Draw couldn't have been any better. I would definatley smoke this again.

I'm glad I picked up some of these. Not the best tasting Padilla, but still very nice for the price. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
On more than one occassion, I've been able to grab a 5er of these on Cbid for $11. I definitely enjoy these as an "everyday" smoke.
