What a treat to put fire to such a rare cigar on such a beautiful summer day. It’s quite hot out, however in the shade of the walnut tree it’s not so bad, especially with a nice breeze blowing. As I look at the cigar, I find excellent construction with a pale brown color to the wrapper that has a couple of those greenish spots found on some Habanos. There’s noticeable oil with a number of small veins throughout, and it feels a little light in the hand with some give when squeezed, however I find it very firm up towards the tapered head. I clip a small portion off and test the draw finding far too much resistance, so clip off a little more and still find too much resistance. I do one smaller clip and although I can pull air through, it’s still on the tight side.

The foot turns a very dark gray, almost black when toasted, and lights quite easily. I take a few puffs to get the fire going well and then a long draw. The smoke is very mild and creamy on the palate like lightly sweetened butter. There’s no spice at all, however the flavor on the palate is very good with tastes of sweet hay, honey, and really good toasted almonds.

The burn is sharp with a strong, dark gray ash forming that has compact layers, and the draw is still on the tight side; however I’m getting enough through to really enjoy the delicious flavors. The smoke itself continues to be quite mild with flavors through the first third consistent as previously described, and the finish incredibly good and lasting on the palate.

Right around the halfway mark, the smoke begins to build to almost a medium body and a smidgen of spice hits the back of the tongue and throat. I’m thinking this change may be due to the draw opening just a tad bit. Smoke is flowing well and flavors are rich and delicious leaving an incredible finish on the palate once exhaled.

Towards the end, the smoke was a good medium body and flavors changed from the light, creaminess to a slightly heavier smoke with a bit of a charred woodiness that was actually very good on the palate. Although the body was quite mild through the first half or so, I still enjoyed the delicious flavors coming through. Towards the end, it really shined for me as the body picked up with a bit of spiciness. Thanks so much Khari for an incredible smoking experience!

Great review. Sounds like an interesting smoke that complimented a nice day very well. Wish it wasn't raining here, I might have to hide in the garage.

Party Shorts that was another good one of a Holy Grailer for me.

You are the best brother.

Glad you liked it, Greg! I wanted to smoke it in celebration of my son being born but was still recovering from a cold, so I figured you could have the celebratory smoke for me.

Greg I wish I had the selection of smokes you have! Another great review. I could only hope to be in the same room with a smoke like that!

Greg looked like a child at Christmas when Khari handed him that stick. His eyes lit up like he saw santa

Khari, that was a really cool thing for you to do!

Greg, great review as always! :)

very nice Greg! I had a chance to light up an 01 EL Torpedo and found similar tasting notes to these. I wonder if the blend is very similar.

Great review on the rare smoke. Sounds like you were able to enjoy a nice celebratory smoke for a fellow CPer bringing new life into the world. Congrats to Khari.
