I picked up a fiver of these cigars from Al’s (Puffstuff) while at the Georgia herf. The wrapper is a very dark brown with small veins throughout and noticeable oiliness. It has a good weight in the hand, firm when squeezed, and with the cap punched I find a perfect draw with fresh tobacco taste that has hints of sweetened cocoa.

After getting the foot burning well, I take a couple puffs then a long draw and get a very good spiciness in the good, medium-bodied smoke. Flavors are very rich with tastes of sweet cocoa, coffee, and leather. The smoke is thick and coats the tongue, almost chewy. There’s a very good twang to the smoke, simply fantastic to my palate.

The burn is sharp with a very dark gray ash forming that holds strong, and the draw has a perfect resistance allowing just the right amount of smoke to flow through. Flavors are incredibly rich and seemingly complex with a finish that is long on the palate, excellent.

This cigar performed perfectly throughout with a sharp burn, delicious flavors, and fantastic finish that lasted long on the palate after exhaling. I’m wishing now I had grabbed up the remaining sticks that were in the box at Al’s. An excellent smoke paired with a delicious cup of fresh brewed coffee!

Great review! And thanks for the photos. Very nicely done. I wanted to buy some of these this Friday on the suggestion of a board member but the B&M I went to had none.

Wonder who that coulda been? :whistling:

Love these. And the corona IS the best vitola of the line IMHO, although they're all good. I've smoked at least a couple fivers from the box my local B&M had in, but people saw me doing it and they ran out!

Great review, fantastic little cigar.

These Miami's are some of my favorites now. I have a box of robusto that isn't gonna last very long

In the particular box I got however, about every 4th smoke is plugged badly. But when they smoke, they SMOKE!

Great review as usual!

How would you compare the flavor profile on these vs the pepin blended version?

IMHO, the non-OR release of the Pepin version wasn't much different than these. The OR Pepin blend to me had a dominating caramel and toffee flavor to it. It's still my holy grail.

I smoked my first of the five I picked up at Al's this weekend and it was a pretty damn good smoke.

x2. The OR Miami 8&11 ruined me for the rest of Pepin's cigars... not a single one has come close to that sublime smoke. I have most of a box of later 8&11s that are smoking very well now, but they are noticeably different. The new Miamis are also great cigars that are rapidly becoming go-to smokes for me.

Greg, great review as always. Thanks!

I need to pick some of these up to see how they compare to the 8&11s. I'm down to my last 8&11 Robusto. I always enjoyed the Coronas as well.

=(
The one I picked up was nothing compared to the one you review... maybe similar highlights but nothing as tasty as what you describe...
Will need to get some more and need further tasting =)

I am a big Padilla fan...especially of the Miami line. However, I have to say that I enjoyed the blend a lot more when Pepin was rolling them. Nothing IMHO can touch the Miami 8&11 Robustos. God I miss that cigar.
