Partly cloudy out today, temps in the mid sixties with a decent breeze blowing. It’s quiet other than the wind chimes hanging on the back porch making their very soft music. Ah the sun peeks out from behind a cloud and feels oh so nice, makes me want to close my eyes and take a nice nap. But, no can do as I brought out a cigar I’ve been really looking forward to trying; a Diamond Crown Julius Caeser, which is a tribute to JC Newman. The construction is impeccable with medium brown wrapper that has noticeable oil and is silky smooth other than one prominent vein running the length. It has a slight give when squeezed, with no soft or hard spots to be found, and a nice weight in the hand. After punching the cap with the largest ring on my knife, I test the draw to find it has a perfect resistance with a really good, sweet tobacco taste coming through.

The foot lights easily and the smoke wafting to my nostrils smells really good peaking my interest even more. It takes a number of good puffs to get the smoke flowing through this large cigar, and once satisfied I take long, slow draw that brings very little spice if any on the back of the tongue and throat, the smoke itself is quite mild. Flavors are decently rich with tastes of toasted almond, or maybe pecan, and what I would describe as a strong maple wood. The finish is delicious and quite lasting.

A third in and the burn is sharp with a medium to light gray ash forming that holds strong until tapped off. There’s still no sign of any spice and the smoke continues to be a bit too mild for my palate, but the body is quite full leaving an oily coating on the tongue that I’m actually enjoying. Flavors are consistent with slight richness; the most prominent taste I would have to say is maple, toasted nuts following closely behind with a finish that lasts.

The sun continues to peek out from the clouds soaking into my clothes, and that along with the wind rustling the trees is making it oh so hard to keep my eyes open. What a lazy Sunday afternoon. Heading halfway and into the final third of the cigar, the burn continues to be sharp with smoke flowing well through the perfect draw. I have to say that the flavors seemed to wane slightly becoming more of a straightforward tobacco. One thing I had hoped was the strength would pick up a bit more towards the end as I do enjoy a stronger cigar; this one was a bit too mild for my palate. But still, overall a good smoke!

I have been looking to try one of these. Their ad in CA directed me to a local B&M near me that was supposed to have them. I went there and they said they had never heard of them. I e-mailed the company two weeks ago requesting info on where I could find some. No response. It makes me wonder why they have an e-mail contact for customer service if they never do the "customer service" part. Not the first time I have e-mailed them and gotten no response. Sorry for the rant.... I guess based on your review I will pass on this stick. I also like fuller stuff, so, thanx.

At least you had a better burn than the one I had. I would have given my first one a 30 points out of 100 due to the channels and being so mild in flavor. I still need to do my official review from the box I won. As you can see I am so motivated in wanting to smoke it.
