My Wineador Adventure. Musings & Problems.

Update: The story up until that point above was the humidity was holding ok I wasn't pleased and I basically stopped caring. It was winter and the humidity was in the acceptable range for me (62 - 68). Temperature was fine due to an external temperature controller. Along comes summer and the...

There are some good ones on there. They are all mostly compressor, though. YMMV, but some people have had a great experience, others not so. Perhaps look for one that also has humidity control.

What do you think of this electronic humidor?

Forrest is known to take a long time, and some people have had issues with his quality of work. You might want to get in contact with John - http://www.cigar-coolers.com/ costs more - but worth it.

    new wineador seasoning

2 weeks for the Boveda seasoning kits. Don't open the cooler until 2 weeks have passed! Also your image above does not work. Try reosting it. I'm interested to see.

I'm not sure why, but you're spelling "masturbation" wrong. Anyway, my data logging shows it's fairly well set. I'm going to have the fans turn on with the humidifier, as I tested with the fans off and it was better... So I think with fans coming on with humidifier it will help the humidity...

Hello. The 2 shelves and drawers from John arrived. I would post pictures - but they're wrapped in glad-wrap with Boveda seasoning packs. Seeing as I have a few sticks in the cooler I didn't want to mess it all up with seasoning kits. I figured glad wrap is the next best thing. I also did this...

I must say the John Nelson experience is amazing. He messaged me earlier today and said "I will probably be able to ship by the end of the week." which is always good news when things are ahead of schedule. In other news, I now have 2 fans up top and 2 fans down bottom - both 120mm. I also put...

So I bought a Cigar Oasis Plus. With the plus unit at the bottom - the humidity was really good except for the top - however, very minor fluctuations. I decided to season 2 of the SC racks I bought ages ago, and re-season one of my humidor racks. I placed all 3 in the wineador and the cigar...

Extra 3lbs of beads came the other day. I pulled all of my beads out 4 days ago, and let the new ones also dry out. I shoved them all in, at different levels and will see what happens. This is more of just a test to see if more beads make any difference (which I expect it won't). Also, I...

I'm pretty much resigned to waiting for the shelves to come. I'll update this thread if anything interesting happens in between. I would have liked to store boxes in there while I wait - but the spikes are just too much for my liking. In the meantime, I've opened it up and turned it off.

I'll quote myself: It's less about asking advice, more about my experiences on this. Like I said, shelves are in build, will be shipped by the end of the month. My plan was to get it reasonably stable before adding anything so I could store boxes while the shelves were being built. As having...

(Edit: our air conditioner is set to 23) 23°C when it is hot outside. I don't mind a temperature of 72°F, but the humidity should be in the 60's. It's hard to keep the humidity in the 60's, the temperature is good all the time... just the humidity is crazy. In the end, for clarification: 5 lbs...

Then, in that case, it would be too complicated IMO. Only an electrician (or someone way more handy than me) could do it. Only the digital temp controller can produce a stable 20C. I figured if the digital temp controller turns off the unit, it would also be turning off the plate. (Edit) just...

Could a digital temp controller work, do you think?

My Wineador Adventure. Musings & Problems.

Well, a digital temperature controller can easily set the temperature to a steady 20°C. (Edit) Also, the added bonus of it controlling temp when there's a power cut and power comes back on. Assuming the controller has some sort of memory. Particular model (plug and play). Can get it from...

My Wineador Adventure. Musings & Problems.

How do I do that? In simple terms, if you could - I'm not very good when it comes to those sort of things. Edit: I'm assuming using a digital temp controller and setting it to be below the dew point temp? How do I discover the dew point? According to a calculator I just found, at a temp of 20C...

If I were to turn the wine cooler off, I've basically wasted money. If I wanted to store cigars in a sealed environment I would have bought an esky (coolidor). I wanted them to be cooled - hence wineador. I'm the kind of person who gives up relatively easy when the solutions given don't work...

It's Thermoelectric. Spanish Cedar is very hard to source, shavings even more so. I don't want lab control. I want (preferably) nothing higher than say 69% RH, and nothing lower than 60% Holy grail for me is as above. 60 - 69% RH. Edit: with the wine cooler turned on. I think lower than 60%...

It is summer, and we've had record breaking temperatures. Today was 46°C. Air-conditioner was on and set at 23°C. The batteries were fresh when I put the hygrometers in. Edit: if I am way too worried about readings, I can use tupperware. Sealed, humidity will be good (boveda) and temperature...

I have calibrated the hygrometers with the Boveda calibration kit. I kept them in there for 48 hours. The Caliber ones were very accurate and only required +1 or -1. The other one - not so accurate, but adjusted as well. Cabinet is empty save for the 3 wire racks, beads, hygrometers, and fans...
