    Spirits Question

In the production of whiskey/whisky, I assume the neutral spirits that result when the mash is distilled all pretty much taste the same, no matter what fermentable substance was used. For example, when put into the barrel, the spirit produced by distilling a malted barley mash would pretty...

    Ron White's Cigar

Anyone know what cigar Ron White is smoking during his act that is showing on Comedy Central right now? I think the show is called "Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again." It looks like it could be a Sir Winnie or HU Monarcas. Maybe a RG Lonsdale or MC No. 1? The band is narrow and brown.

    Pigtail amputation.

When you are about to smoke one of those cigars that has a pigtail, don't you just hate to snip it off? I do - but only until I get the first taste of the pre-light draw!

    Have a favorite for friends?

Any of you guys have a standard ISOM you give to friends when they want to try one? If one of my friends asks, depending on their level of general cigar smoking experience, I think I most often select an ERDM Choix Supreme. Any others that might be good, or that you tend to use for this purpose?

    Ever smoke a damaged ISOM?

I had a Cohiba Robusto that was damaged in shipping - the wrapper and binder were completely torn away and missing from about 1/3 of the length of the cigar at the foot. I couldn't bring myself to throw it away, but I wasn't sure it would be worth trying, so I just left it in the humidor for a...

    Hypothetical Humi Question

Let's say that one day we wake up and the embargo is gone, and we can buy cigars from wherever we please. In that situation, if one were to buy ISOMs, should they be stored in a separate , dedicated humi?

    Another new guy...

I have stumbled across this site a few times in the past, but I finally started reading some of the threads. Lot of good info here, so I decided to register. My name is Shane. I am 42, married, and have two children. I am a radiologist, thus the user name. I love cigars, and have been...
