Wonder what the chances to Las Vegas - Golden Knights bringing home the Stanley Cup to the desert.

I am not a huge NHL fan, but it's interesting that this first year team seems to be playing better then lucky, and are only a few wins away from playing for the Stanley Club maybe.

It’s not luck. I saw it put this way. They basically have a whole team consisting of 2nd liners, with an all star goalie. The NHL expansion draft this time did them a solid. Not like previous expansions at all.

Well the Golden Knights are one win from being in the Stanley Cup, it would be very cool to see the new team go all the way. Winning the Stanley Cup.

Friend lives in Las Vegas he has been to see the new team play a couple of times, been to a couple of their practices in the practice facility they use.

He says the player, and their coaching staff is top draw. The ownership is apprently doing a good job of marketing hockey in Las Vegas, and a job of filling seats at home games.

They got it handed to them if they win. It takes away from the Stanley cup being one of the most difficult trophies to obtain if they win. Marketing? They’re ripping off every other team who’s existed before them. They’re unoriginal in thier marketing. No one outside of Vegas will care. Thier fans are the worst at knowing anything about the sport. How is that good for anyone, the NHL included?

Are the players talented? Yeah. Maybe you missed the point about how this team didn’t have the same type of expansion draft as others before did.

No one wants this expansion team to succeed unless you’re an owner or investor.

Some of your points above maybe true. I do not understand how winning the Stanley Cup will be tarnished if the Knights get it.

The other point about people in Las Vegas not understanding Hockey could be half true, as Las Vegas is also full of transplants from NY, MN, WI, and other places where people play and follow hockey.

There was recently a artical in the AZ Repulbic how we in Arizona do not have a fan base of supports of the local Suns Baqsketball, Cardnials Football, Coyotes Hockey, or Diamondbacks Baseball Teams. Stadiums are seldom at, or near capacity unless the like of team from place people use to live come to play the AZ Team.

Also the local team owners have not invest in the community to try & cultivate fans for their teams, or tried to get people to understand the basics of hockey to build a fanbase for the hockey teams the Coyotes.

Also the Golden Knight have opened the door of pro sports to Sin City that was frowned upon for years because of legal gambling in the city. Now the Oakland Raiders are headed to make "SIN CITY" their new home.

Allow me to provide some context about how important this team has become to Las Vegas. Sin City is always derided as a city of transients and transplants, myself included. Getting the team was kind of a ho-hum announcement--it's a step forward for the community, but most people have an eye getting the Raiders in a few years as when we'll "really" arrive. Then 1 October happened, followed a few days later by the VGK's first game at T-Mobile. The emotional groundswell in this jaded city was palpable; I haven't seen anything like it.

And then they started winning. And kept winning. All the while the NHL experts, former-player analysts, and casino sports books continued to call the team a fluke and a joke. This "loaded and rigged" expansion draft narrative only emerged after the all-star game to try to cover the bobblehead naysayer's reputations' ex post facto. It's likely true-- Marc-Andre Fleury is undeniably responsible for a LOT of the VGK's success.

More importantly though is that this narrative doesn't matter to this city. All the sudden there's this pride in being a Las Vegan. People are talking to each other at the viewing parties all along the strip. LAS VEGAS IS BECOMING A COMMUNITY! That's what this stupid hockey team has done-- they've given us something to rally around and given us a sense of "us".

Hell, I haven't been interested in Hockey since Patrick Roy hung 'em up and the Avs went from Stanley Cup contenders to punchlines. I'm now so stoked to see if the Knights can go into Winnipeg tonight and finish this series. Tarnish the reputation of the cup? Fans are ignorant? Don't care. This season's been special and it's been a blast to witness.

Well the Golden Knights are headed home with a title in their first years in the NHL. They are the best in the Western Half of the NHL. Next stop the playing for the Stanley Cup. I maybe make a single hockey gave per year to see the local guys on a team called the Arizona Coyotes, this year they were doing so bad the Coyotes, I spent the ticket money of good Cigars.

I am sure when the Golden Knights land at the Airport in Sin City there will be a few local hockey fans their to meet & greet the team in some sort of celebration.

The Golden Knights will have their chance in a matter of a few days to show their skills again in the Stanley Cup games ahead of them. If they the Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup some people will still cry foul or bad calls by referees. Or have other complaints.

One thing I know for sure, no matter who actually wins the Stanley Cup some fans will not be happy.
