I finally got down to organizing my micro/craft brew collection yesterday.  It was quite a task but I'm quite pleased with the results.  Lots of bottle dating and figuring on how I wanted to stack the shelves, but hey, these are the trials and tribulations of life, no?

Now I can't wait to get down to "destroying" it.

Also, hidden away in the 90min IPA box is a 4 pack of 120 min.  Come to papa!

I've beat it up pretty good....what you see is pretty much what's there.  Hard to keep the darn stuff on the shelf..... :p

This is the best I can do at the moment.  I don't have the strength, energy, or will to take them out of the boxes.  The box on the bottom left is sitting on 2 other boxes of bottles.  Suffice to say I've calmed down a lot on making purchases, lately.  I really need to be more vigilant in cracking some of these bottles open.

Thats exactly what I said to myself after I organized.  I had them all willy nilly in a wine fridge that I hardly open.  I said to myself I need to put them somewhere that I can see what I actually have and maybe get inspired to actually drink them.  Thats just what I plan to do.

By the way, what are you sitting on those SN Celebration's for?  Not to mention the other IPA's.  Not that I'm a fresh hop freak, but IPA's aren't really meant for aging.

I'm not sitting on them really.  The SN's were left over from last winter...Just didn't finish the case.  Figure I'll pop 'em open this winter and see if they're still good, if not...down the drain they go and thats that.  The limbo's I just got last week, so they're not really aging.  Dogfish IPAs hold up remarkably well over time.  The 120 min IPA specifically actually does age extremely well.  Its a 15-20% abv.  Like I sort of mentioned in the OP, I'm set on tearing my way through the collection very shortly.  I dated stuff more or less so I can know how old it is or how long I've had it, cause lets face it, I can drink some brews, but if I tried to drink ALL of that stash before it got any age on it, I'd really have a problem.

Much of the brew in the large bottles, however, does age very well.

I'd post a picture, but my collection had gotten sad. A bunch of Saison Brett and a couple bottles of Surly Darkness and Pentagram. That's about it. I have no will power to keep beer around.

I hear ya, I already started tearing through the ones from this picture.  Long Trails are gone.  Gonna crack open the DFH Theobroma tonight!

Man, I really need to start reading and learning more about beers. I always thought that beer was supposed to be kept in the refrigerator and didn't know that you can actually age some and some are better fresh.

This is not what I hoped for when I opened this thread! :p

But nice looking beers anyways I guess. :)

Well, some would say they should be in some sort of Vinotemp device like wine but I don't have money or space for that.  I figure as long as they are in a dark, somewhat temp stable environment they should be fine.  As long as it doesn't get to 125 in my apt, I figure they are fine.

Thanks, I always have all of my beers in my refrigerator and they were taking a hell of a lot space (I don't have many, about 22), last night I took most of them out and left 2 of each brand in there.

I'm looking for a source for that Surly Darkness, do you happen to know of any online sources or are you getting them through trade?
