Cigar shape vs flavor

So I was reading the thread about people's favorite shapes and that brought out a question from me.

Does shape influence flavor and why? Or is it just a difference in time. I think I understand that smaller ring gauges produce more flavor because of the wrapper to filler ratio. Is this correct?

The shape doesn't effect the flavor as much as how much and where the different tobaccos are placed while bunching the filler.

My understanding regarding rg is not that a small rg cigar will have 'more' flavor than a larger one but that the influence the different component tobaccos have will vary. The flavor profile of a smaller rg cigar will be more influenced by the wrapper whereas the profile of a larger rg will be more influenced by the filler.
