I need to replace the leaf springs on my 65 lemans.

I am thinking a new set would be the best bet, but what about a suspension shop re-arching them.

Trying to find a new set and have them shipped wouldn't be cost effective.

Anyone have a parts place they like to get stuff from?

any thoughts?

TIA

Mark

I don't know why I never thought of having a suspension shop build a set.

Good idea.

I had a 71 AMC Javelin and went with the re-arch / helper springs....didn't last long.

You may not find a 'new' set at some store and have to have them made anyhow.

....plan on doing it 'right'....it'll payoff in the long run!

As a designer, I would definitely recommend going with the hot. It is a significant difference. Cry once, or cry many times?

What he said! Pay me now, or pay me later kind of thing.

I always advised my customers to go with new. Just cheap insurance.

My buddy had his springs re-arched on his truck with good results.  I don't know if they were hot or cold.  I can ask, and follow up.

Mine were done in the '80s and they were affordable to me...so it must have been "cold". The wifey totaled the car later that year so I don't know how they would have held up.

Have a set built, you can specify if you want the car to sit lower or higher, be stiffer or softer, have urethane bushings installed for better handling.   Lots of choices.
