***New release announced at the 2005 RTDA Show
"I bet there are guys out there who feel the same way I do about throwing away a perfectly good cigar
because of time constraints. So when I went to Nicaragua, I told the factory to make a 4 x 47 cigar for me.
On the way from the farm to Esteli, the cigar took 35 minutes to smoke. So we decided to call it the No. 35" -George Padron

Padrón Millennium Series

Padrón Millennium...........6.00 x 52..........est. $30.00 / Apprx. $3067.00 (100)

To celebrate the Millennium, the Padrón family created the limited edition “ Millennium 1964 Series”. Production was limited to 1,000 cases of 100 cigars each. The cigar, with dimensions of 52 x 6, is made with tobacco that has been aged for five years. All tobacco used for this single release was hand selected specifically for this limited production. Our goal was to blend a more full-bodied flavor while not compromising the balance that cigar connoisseurs have come to expect from our products.

The Millennium cases contain five solid cedar trays that accommodate 20 cigars each. Each cigar as well as each case is individually and sequentially numbered. To make this possible, new bands containing Jose O. Padrón’s signature were designed to accommodate the individual serial numbering of each cigar. Each case also features two solid brass plaques on the exterior lid. The first, appearing on the center of the lid, contains the 1964 Anniversary Series logo. The second, located on the bottom right corner of the lid, contains the following information:

Millennium
1964 Series
Limited Edition
Box No. 1/ 1,000
Cigars No. 000001-000100

*Cases bearing numbers representing important family dates have been reserved and will be released on a limited basis in the future.

Wrapper: Natural or Maduro

Jesus of Cool, I'm bad, I'm nationwide
I have to get one of those 40th anni sticks and then I can Padron myself to death one day with a PAM 64 Diplomatico, Pam 26 #1, a PMM and a PAM 40. After Moki's PMM pass I had to get another one to let sit for a while. Might be time to fire it up in an all Padron day.

I couldn't even think of this without the great generosity of my brothers here at CP.

1926 Series™ 40th Anniversary was introduced in 2004 to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary.

1926 Series 80th Anniversary perfecto ( 2007 or 2008 release ) commemorates the 80th birthday of José Orlando Padrón.

The Padrón Band Questions

"Here's my understanding; Padrón originally had bands that said: 'Padrón 1964 Aniversario'. These came out in 1994 to celebrate Padrón's 30th anniversary as a cigar company.

They added José Padrón's signature to the back of the band in 1999, and were printing both "Anniversary" and "Anniversario" bands overlapping this time period.

The second band with a serial number on it was introduced in February of 2001.

So if you have a Padrón that has no second band, it is either pre-Feb 01, or it is fake. If there is no signature on the back, it is either pre-1999, or it is fake.

All of these various measures were taken because Padrón cigars had become so popular and sought-after that counterfeits were rampant." - Andrew 'Moki' Welch

Here are some known fakes:

The Genuine Article ( Left ).......................................................Counterfeit of Unknown Origin ( Right )

This counterfeit band is the right length and is properly cut. At a glance it seems real, but it's not. The coloring is inaccurate. The wings are a light orange-yellow instead of off-white, and the gold tone that should possess a slight luster looks yellow. On the centerpiece, this fake has a slightly lighter maroon tone than the darker, genuine article, and the scripted "Padrón" is hazy. On the back of the band (not shown), the diagonal "Jose O. Padrón" signatures are not crisp. Cigar Aficionado

The Genuine Article ( Left ).......................................................Counterfeit Purchased in Nicaragua (Right)

This counterfeit is quite similar to the real band with regards to the printed words, especially the scripted "Padrón" in the center. Yet this counterfeit lacks the glitter of the gold coloring found in the genuine article. Also, the fine grayish lines that run horizontally from the centerpiece are blue and poorly printed, almost like they were printed from an old dot matrix printer. The brownish hue in the center is slightly more maroon than the darker shade of brown in the genuine band. On the back of the band -- not seen here -- the diagonal signatures of José O. Padrón match the erroneous maroon shade of the counterfeit centerpiece -- the signatures should be brown. Cigar Aficionado
